Forums - Gaming Discussion - If exclusives Swapped would the same people hating be praising?

For some, sure. I mean, it was pretty sad here when in every single Tomb Raider thread you had the same people coming in comparing it and bashing it based on Uncharted. If Tomb Raider were PS exclusive there is no doubt they'd be singing an entirely different tune. But they thought it was an Uncharted clone and it clearly bothered them that Xbox/PC people could now experience a style of game they thought was theirs alone.

Titanfall is another good example. I would love to see the console exclusive brand switched and see the response. My guess is some people here would suddenly love the game and can't wait for it, and a handful of others here would suddenly think the game looked terrible and boring. Sometimes a MP game is hyped up by one fanbase as the "answer" to an exclusive game on another fanbase. Prototype for example. Has no business being hyped up and compared to Infamous but it was. Why? So the Xbox guys could say "hey well if I wanted to play Infamous I'll just play Prototype". But what if it were the 360 that Infamous was exclusive to? Would these same Xbox guys still think the game played similar? Likely not. Killzone is another example. I think the game gets a ton of praise and hype just because it's the "Halo killer".

But this is the logic of only the most loyal of company enthusiasts. Not the typical way of thinking imho.

There is exceptions. I mean I go where Halo goes. But this thread isn't geared towards neutral gamers.......its geared towards single console loyalists. That's where confusion comes into play as neutral gamers are here and screwing with the answers because it ain't meant for them.

I will be honest......Halo aside, if Xbox and PS exclusives swapped, I would still praise the exclusives just because they are exclusive. I would praise GT over Forza because GT would be a Xbox exclusive and not on PS. At least I can admit that I am part of this mentality.

You represent a team, and you brag about what it offers. The game itself, and if you want to play it, mean absolutely nothing next to using it as a talking point.

Quote away.

I appreciate your honesty :) At least you can admit to it and Im sure there is other people qwho have a similar mindset.

As for MGS4, it is one of my all time favorite games and it is also my favorite MGS.  I know a lot of people like MGS3 more but for me it is MGS4.  Personally MGS5 looks amazing to me and i cant wait XD

This is similar to how I view it as well.  I remember when InFamous and Prototype came out. People was hyping the hell out of prototype as MSFT's answer for InFamous.  Sony fans hated prototype and MSFT fans loved it and hated InFamous.  People argueing which one was better etc.  I played prototype and hated it lol

And it would be interesting with the TitanFall thing.  I think a lot of the hype for exclusives boils down to fanwars more than anything.  They just get brought up more because it is a reason their preferred console is better than the other.

I'm only making the argument because the timing of the thread is really bordering on "you people" territory. So I just want to know who is being talked about.

This is not geared towards any one specific person.   I just want people's opinions on it.  And not sure why you are saying the timing of this thread as you could really say that about any time. You don't have to believe me, but give me the benifit of the doubt.  This is not about anybody and is not intended to start a fanwar.  I just thought it would be an interesting topic to talk about.  Some people has brought up good examples on all sides and I have really enjoyed reading through the responses.
