The answer is yes.

Sure, because the IP has sold predominately on PS consoles.

But allready there is a significant lower hype meter for this game compared to MGS4 back in the day. Which leads me to believe many PS gamers just praise exclusives just because they are exclusive, regardless of whether they are going to play it.

Xbox gamers are the same to a degree, but PS fans tend to be more vocal about this due to their numbers.

There is exceptions. I mean I go where Halo goes. But this thread isn't geared towards neutral gamers.......its geared towards single console loyalists. That's where confusion comes into play as neutral gamers are here and screwing with the answers because it ain't meant for them.

I will be honest......Halo aside, if Xbox and PS exclusives swapped, I would still praise the exclusives just because they are exclusive. I would praise GT over Forza because GT would be a Xbox exclusive and not on PS. At least I can admit that I am part of this mentality.

You represent a team, and you brag about what it offers. The game itself, and if you want to play it, mean absolutely nothing next to using it as a talking point.

To be fair, while I think the same way, that is solely his opinion though. I was really hyped for mgs4, and for a while thought it was amazing, but after that I realized that it just wasn't bringing me back to the table like mgs3 used to. Also, mgs4 came out very early on, I think in under 18 months after launch...was it 2008? So perhaps that was part of the hype factor as well, as there weren't that many major AAA games on ps3 at the time.

Ok, maybe thats the rational explanation. But I remember forums and YT channels lighting up with exclusive related fanboy posts. Use your imagination and it was probably said.

I see no such thing with MGS5.

Exclusives get talked about more for 1 simple reasons: The people who care about Exclusivity are the ones on video game forums.

Yea - thing is there are different types of gamers out there, just like there are different types of personalities.  We're not all the same and the common misconception of gamers as a whole, is that we're are.

I mean, sure - I've seen it before, people bashing games they see on any device they don't own, and then when they obtain that device/console, it's suddenly great.  Yes, it does happen.

But many gamers don't think this way, and rather like games for actually being good, and having real merits as oppose to brand loyalty.  And "being good" is all to the eye of the beholder, which is why so many genres can co-exist in the gaming industry, despite those who "don't get" them.

Exclusives garner competition, which make for, in the end, great games.  If people want to waste their time with brand loyalty, then so be it.  But I agree, not all of us pass up games for petty reasons such as this.

oh and of course it happens, because there are indeed people out there who do everything in their power to be petty.

I'm only making the argument because the timing of the thread is really bordering on "you people" territory. So I just want to know who is being talked about. Timing is relevant because of the upcoming consoles, exclusives news, and the like...so obviously there must be people here that we're talking shit about. I mean, the only game I've seen that doesn't deserve recognition is Ryse :P jkjk, oh yes, and perhaps MGS5 isn't getting as much attention, but I also challenge people saying that to try and remember that when MGS4 was released, Darthdevi posted the majority of the threads, and he was literally the number one news thread creator. Think nsanity times 10.

I remember how Versus XIII suddenly became so much better than XIII after the MS announcement. There was even a member here who sigged that noteworthy event.
