One fine day, the ponies of Ponyville found themselves gathered together near the town library.  But something wasn't right:  they all looked like the local heroes, the Elements of Harmony!  What was going on? 

Strangely enough, nopony knew.   They didn't even know who they were, much less what was going on. 

Maybe they were all Changelings, having invaded Ponyville instead of Canterlot like last time, only the Elements of Harmony had befuddled them and were hiding amongst them. 

Maybe Discord had returned, and was playing some incomprehensible game with them -- in that case, only by finding the true Elements of Harmony could they set things right. 

Perhaps Pinkie Pie, previously possessing powers primarily pertinent to prognostication, promises, pratfalls, pranking, and parties, had not only run out of P-words to alliterate with, but had also convinced her friends to help her somehow ensnare the town in the ultimate game of hide-and-seek. 

As the ponies perplexedly pondered the possibilities (HAH!), they came to realize that it didn't matter.  The point was, everypony in town had mysteriously been turned into a copy of Twilight Sparkle (the Element of Magic), Pinkie Pie (Laughter), Fluttershy (Kindness), Applejack (Honesty), Rainbow Dash (Loyalty), or Rarity (Generosity), and no matter what the reason was, they had to identify who among them were the true Elements of Harmony.  Fortunately, nopony could shyly cower quite like the real Fluttershy, and she was quickly found.  Likewise, gathering up all the Applejacks and asking them whether they were Applejack led to the Element of Honesty being identified despite the fact that as far as the copies were concerned, they WERE Applejack.  Nopony quite knew how that was possible, but the fact remained that only Twilight, Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity still needed to be narrowed down from amongst the unwitting imposters. 

The zebra Zecora, who just happened to be passing through town as everypony was discussing the problem, was able to come up with a solution.  She could brew up one of her weird potions that would definitely break the spell on a fake.  But there were drawbacks.  For one thing, she didn't have the supplies, and while she could gather them, she could only scrounge up enough to test one pony per day.  More importantly, a concotion this powerful could not be used without a terrible cost:  anypony drinking the potion would have absolutely horrifying gas for a week!  They would have to leave town and go hide out in the Everfree Forest until they could avoid killing plant life within three feet of their butts.

Some rules and reminders: 
- Do not post your PM.  You may roleclaim, and you may describe your role in your own words, but no copy-pasting.  Violation will be dealt with harshly. 
- Normally, lynches will occur upon straight majority.  If a deadline passes with no lynch (and no "No Lynch"), the person with a plurality of the votes will be lynched if the majority of people have voted.  Otherwise, No Lynch will prevail.  In the case of ties, if one of the options is No Lynch it will win, and otherwise the winner will be randomly decided, unless the mod decides to allow a double lynch and the town agrees by vote (do not count on this being an option). 
- Nights will last 48 hours, to ensure ample time for nighttime actions and discussion.  Failure to decide your action in that time is pathetic and will cause your action to be randomized. 
- Failure to post in the game thread during Daytime will result, after 72 hours of Daytime inactivity, in modkill.  You also bring eternal shame upon yourself.  Don't. 
- Actions can be sent to Final-Fan via PM or posted in your QuickTopic, if available. 
- Votes should be bolded and separated from text (or at the start of a double spaced new line of text). 
- PM Final-Fan or TadpoleJackson with questions. 
- Role PMs should be sent within the hour. 
- Check the signup thread if you want to review the basics.

Apparently I'm bad at writing flavor because people are apparently having a hard time interpreting the connection between the flavor and the actual game mechanics.

Giving someone a potion that makes them fart and leave town = Lynching

The Elements of Harmony = Mafia because even if they aren't the bad guys they are the group the town is trying to identify that lurk among them (and they will be taking their own toll on the town).

All of you are a character that is an Element of Harmony in the show, but only some of you are Elements of Harmony in this game. Since there will be multiple Pinkie Pies and Rainbow Dashes and so on, you can nameclaim all you want, and have all the fun with your character that you want, and it won't do a thing as far as scumhunting (or getting caught) is concerned.
