"The thing with Timesplitters is, if we made a sequel to Timesplitters, nobody would accept this apart from some fans, and we don't know how big the fan community is unfortunately"

"And we don't want to design this as packaged goods that launches on a console, and even if we did I don't think publishers would like the idea"

"Timesplitters is one of the most fun multiplayer games ever, and G-Face is a social entertainment platform - it's about online gaming.  I love the idea of a Timesplitters for G-Face"

"Kickstarter is a concept we thought about seriously.  Time will tell"

So, any thoughts on this?  Seems pretty crystal clear that we're not going to get another full-price console release of Timesplitters.  Would you play Timesplitters on G-Face if it were released on that? (For those who don't know what it is, I'm told it's like a cross between Steam and Facebook, for games, backed by Crytek).

Would you support a Kickstarter for Timesplitters 4?  How big do you think demand for the game actually is?  There's a thread doing the rounds on reddit at the moment that seems to be pretty popular, and I always see fans on here - but it's still hard to gauge how big the fanbase actually is.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned ever in any kind of official capacity is a HD Collection of Timesplitters.  Do you feel that would be a better idea?

Damn you dirty apes.

Pretty sure TS is dead as far as I am concerned... G-Face sounds horrible in both name and concept so no I would not like that.

The thing about Timesplitters is it was designed as a fun FPS with some realistic elements, rather than the dominant type of FPS, if not the dominant type of game, which is a realistic FPS that you can have fun in. No publishers seem to want the former anymore, perhaps because they don't tend to give an easy way out for making a sequel like the latter type does (which basically involves a slightly tweaked story and new level design)

Ahh, too true.   I can't imagine any other FPS that would throw you in a Circus full of Snowmen with a flamethrower (I'M MELTINGGGG) or have you take down a stronghold of accountants and their supercomputer.  God, I miss Timesplitters.

And I think you're exactly right.  Timesplitters: Future Perfect was a hard enough sell to publishers and an even harder sell to consumers.  I doubt we're ever going to see a series like it again.

Go to hell Crytek... T_T
And Nintendo can go to hell too, for not doing anything with the Eternal Darkness IP.
Timesplitters 2 and Eternal Darkness were two of my favourite games of the sixth gen, and they are now deader than dead. Sad stuff...

Yeah, a new Timesplitters game wouldn't be successful. I am much more hyped for a sequel to Eternal Darkness.

Timesplitters 2 was one of the few FPS that I really enjoyed. My favourite part was the arcade/challenge modes, a 4th game needs to be made.

I'd wager that a Timesplitters retail home console release would be far more welcome to fans than a release on some 'social entertainment platform'.

Why would Time Splitters not be successful?

It would be a breath of fresh air.

Add some kind of forge mode and solid online, maybe vehicles, and it will be the best multiplayer game of the generation.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I feel like a lot of the problem lies in the fact that publishers will look at the sales of Future Perfect and think "Nope, dead franchise".  I mean, it barely sold 500,000 copies across 3 platforms (and I have no idea why either, it's a bloody awesome game).  Compare that to nearly 2 million for Timesplitters 2, it definitely looks like a series on the decline.

And again, for a publisher, it's not always obvious for them to see how much the market needs something like Timesplitters on consoles right now.  It's too easy to see the domination of Call of Duty, but I firmly agree with you that TS would be a breath of fresh air and that a lot of people would really enjoy playing that style of multiplayer in the current generation.

(Also, it should bring back the mapmaker they already had with just some slight improvements.  I think it works pretty great overall!)
