... and I like it.

The first impression is, that it does not look as great as The Last Story did. Seems, that TLS has set a new standard. So I recommend to play Pandora's Tower first, if you can. If you enter the towers, the looks get better, but not on the level of TLS. But the towers are a much more impressive and phantastic setting, than the world of TLS. The look at the towers in the middle of a deep rift build upon gigantic chains - that's something great.

The game starts with a short video - but without much of a background. You get more of the events, if you talk to Helena and Mavda later. After the Intro-video you find yourself fast in the first tower. You don't get much of an tutorial, but it starts simple and you get some infos about possible actions. Reading some of the first help-files could be wise.

But it's easy enough. Sword-combos with A, you can use the chain you got from Mavda with pointing on the screen and pressing B. The chain is from the start an important help in fighting the foes. HBut even if it is easy, you have quite some tactical options, that can you read up in the help-files. For the first enemies should it be enough to smash them up with the sword.

I found some old writings, that shed a little light on the history of the tower I visit. And this seems to develop in an interesting way.

So my overall first impression is - very good. I don't know if this will hold, but I'm quite optimistic. And I get the feeling, that the story and setting could be more interesting for me than TLS, but let's see. If the towers and monsters are generic the first impression could well be reversed.

What do you all think about the game?

i saw that first video and thought it looked great, very detailed and solid, the gameplay looks like God of war with some rpg elements, which sounds good, but i prefer TLS.
Ill be buying it.

Pandora's Tower looks better than The Last Story. PT uses a fixed camera at almost all times, so it's easier to maintain a stable performance, but if it prevents annoying framerate drops like in TLS, then that's something I can live with. Pandora's Tower also uses colors.

Story and setting of PT are miles ahead of TLS and it's also damning for TLS that PT has more varied and interesting environments despite almost everything taking place inside of towers.

For those wondering about the gameplay, it's nowhere near as complex as in Devil May Cry. It's a rather simple dodge and attack affair and it's most efficient to first charge and then unleash a powerful combo that only requires a couple of timed button presses to keep it going. Your short range weapon (there are several) in combination with the chain offers various ways to deal with the enemies. You even have the option to bound two enemies together with your chain and all damage dealt to one enemy automatically translates to the other. Different enemies require different strategies, but it's certainly not a deep action game. Neither does it have deep RPG elements.

Pandora's Tower is a game that is greater than the sum of its parts, at least if you can warm up to its setting and care for the lady you have to save.

I got the feeling TLS looks better, especially the characters seem to be more real. Also in the beginning were some events of 'Kantenflimmern' (don't know the english wortd).

But anyways, as I said before, the setting of PT is much more inventive than TLS. The towers in this rift on these giant chains - I love stuff like that. Also you have in TLS no character comparable to Mavda and her 'buddy'. I cannot say how the story in PT will develop, but I'm keen to learn about that as I play more.

I agree on the combat-system. The option chaining two enemies up was something I read up in the help-files and used in my first session.  It's very convenient.
