Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo 4 warning flags preceding release

Tagged games:

There is no denying that 2011 was a great year for game releases, but 2012 is looking even better if you take Skyrim out of the equation. The usual suspect will be there (the new Call of Duty) but there are some other titles coming that we have not seen a new version of in a few years, such as Max Payne 3, Mass Effect 3, GTA 5, Diablo III and Resident Evil 6. However, one of the biggest has to be Halo 4 but there’s no guarantee it will be the success like previous games from the series were.

There are already warning flags popping up preceding the release of Halo 4 and one of those is the fact that Bungie has surrendered all control, not only to the features of the game but also the score as well. Previous Halo games had the sexy sound of the sax andwe are told that this will be no more, which was evident in the trailer shown during E3.

There is no denying Halo has one of the best soundtracks from any game and knowing it has now been taken away will not sit well with many gamers, and when you consider that even the musical side of things will take a hit it does not bode well for other areas of Halo 4.

Should we see this as a warning flag or is it better to be practical because a new direction could be just what the franchise needs to inject some new life into it?There have been rumors suggesting that the engine could be built off some old code, but this has yet to be confirmed and could get the overhaul needed to make the game better than ever, although even an update to the current engine would be welcome as well.

All these fears will still do nothing to take the anticipation away from what will be the first title in a new trilogy, and again there are warning signs here as well. The reason is because fans will want to learn anything they can regarding the game and as a result could sign up to anything, if you are invited to signup to Halo 4 beta access via certain websites then you are advised not to do so because they will be fakes.

The reason why these sites will be fake is due to the fact Microsoft has not announced any details for an official beta. Sadly this advice has come too late for some gamers, as they have become victims by handing over personal information of themselves to undesirable individuals.

The easiest way to stop this from happening is by Microsoft making an announcement, as we already know they have an official Halo 4 beta URL. While we know there is much to look forward too in regards to 343 Industries upcoming game, we cannot help but worry about these warning flags.

Well seeing as how the key people at bungie jumped ship to 343 and Marty O'Donnel (the composer) has said he would be more than willing to work on Halo 4 I dont see this as a worry, dont forget Halo Wars worked out pretty well

Already have a song in mind for the last battle;

Definitely the one.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I'm not worried at all, I really love the "old" Halo scores, but I do think a change (If the new score is awesome) would (and should) be welcomed.

This is a new studio, a new trilogy, heck a new decade.

I'm not worried at all, I welcome change in some areas.

As long as the changes moves towards Halo:CE I'll welcome them. I want to see more open worlds (unlike the tight corners based campaign Halo 2 introduced) and less linear campaign missions. I also want to see greater battles (campaign and matchmaking) but maybe we'll have to wait for the next Xbox until that's possible.

So far 343 has only done good in my opinion, so my hopes are up.

The article seems to just be a conspiracy theory being passed off as news.

lol what an article... i mean, yes, i love the halo soundtracks but to say "the next one will take a hit" what? how can somene say this? maybe it will be a flop but maybe it will be one of the best game soundtracks of all time?

halo has been dead for years now. only the die hards buy into it.

call of duty is where all the sales are going these days -not counting nintendo made games on the wii ds 3ds .
and the just dance type stuff .

and i have not bought a single halo game since 3.

if they refuse to put 4 player ai bots and features in halo 4 i will not buy it  because halo has been the same since 2  .  i don't really see the change in the game .  its just a new story but the same ol graphic style the same no unlockable features the same easy campaigne every bit of it . and when you get on multiplayer all you get is singing in the mic fighting over stupid stuff and ..   when you kill some one they complain about how laggy it is . and how  you supposed to die etc .

Huh? Halo is alive. It still sells a lot more than basically any other HD game excluding cod...

so there are 10 million die hard fans?

and you judge Halo Reach without playing it and refuse to play 4, because there was no change in the game you never played.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
