So in the next few weeks we have two major games coming out for both PS3 and 360 and both are getting special edition HW bundles, Tales of Xillia and Gears of War 3. Now with Xillia and its bundle only seeing a release in Japan and Gears seeing a worldwide release you might think that this won't even be close. Think again. Historically Japan has gobbled up limited edition consoles and the week-on-week boost that they give, at least percentage-wise, is usually significantly more than the boost you'll see from special edition consoles in other regions. Here's some examples of boosts from special edition bundles or consoles in Japan, and not just limited to PS3.
FF7 Advent Children BR bundle (PS3): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39915®=Japan&date=39922 (45k boost)
MGS4 bundle (PS3, Japan only): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39649®=Japan&date=39614 (67k boost)
White PS3: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=40384®=Japan&date=40391 (23k boost)
Monster Hunter Tri bundle (Wii): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=40020®=Japan&date=40027 (71k boost)
Tales of Vesperia bundle (360): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39663®=Japan&date=39670 (18k boost)
I notably excluded the FFXIII and GT5 bundles because it's impossible to determine the boost they gave due to their holiday release. Now let's look at the boost that some of 360's SE consoles have given WW.
Halo 3 LE console (game not actually incuded): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39348®=World&date=39355 (66k boost)
Halo Reach Bundle: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=39355®=World&date=40440 (105k boost)
FFXIII bundle: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?date=40244®=World&date=40251 (12k boost)
So which limited edition bundle will give the bigger boost? Here's something worth noting, estimates for Xillia's first week are in the same area as MGS4 and MHTri.
