Your favourite style or naunced type of game/sub, sub, sub genre?

Other biggest genre I love that I was fighting on whether it would be first or not is Real-Time Strategy. This was the first genre of games that I was ever introduced to as a kid with Command & Conquer: Red Alert which over the years led me to the likes of Myth, Age of Empires, StarCraft, Warcraft, Rise of Nations, Empire Earth, Homeworld, and Total Annihilation, games that I still go back and play to this day. There's even been some great RTS games that have released in recent times, but just nowhere near the way they used to be.

Great choice. For many years story driven FPS was my fave too but they died with the orange box, it never got better even though CoD Modern Warfares campaign was really fresh but those are short affairs and after that, nothing. We still get doom and what not but that, thankfully cause it's cool AF, focuses on gameplay. Half Life 2 and it's episodes were the height of the genre and nothing has even tried to compete.

You mention Woldenstien but that series went full emo, having Blaskowitz talk like Alan Wake the whole time make them a pain to play. If you want one that is light hearted and good fun with a pretty damn good story may I suggest Shadow Warrior 2013 (not it's sequel, it sucks as open world), it does doom with a story and is so muvh fun.

I guess CP 2077 counts, technically but I'd prefer a linear affair.
