Yeah but hasn't hardware traditionally been sold at a loss or a small profit? The real money has always been in software and peripherals for the console. Price cuts have been a normal thing for consoles up until this generation.

More and more people only buy and play FIFA, CoD or Fortnite. They don't bring in much money for the platform holder besides online fees.
