I envisioned something much crazier, more like SimCity for the cities, but Civ was more than good enough! =D I still remember playing Civ 1 for the first time (I played Egypt on the Earth map), the music, the animation of people moving to the city, the graphics of the city itself. Very little will ever top that experience. |
Yeah, I remember playing Civ 1 and my father played it even more than me. The game was riddled with glitches and bugs (typically for Microprose at the time), for instance I remember in the late you better turned off the advisors as they could cause the game to crash. Also getting the points was a risky move in late game. But - also typical for Microprose - they nailed the gameplay. It felt so great exploring, building, expanding your empire and so on. That was a lot of fun.
