It's all about implementation and how much it detracts from the rest of the game. Also how useless it is. Taking away stamina and durability from the game would do nothing to the enjoyment of the game, in contrary. |
I agree on weapon durability. I think Zelda does great with the clothing, different pieces that can be upgraded. Weapons could have been similar.
I disagree on stamina. Stamina adds to the gameplay, it restricts your abilties to swim, glide or climb and you can increase it temporarily or permanently. This is cool and adds enjoyment, as it makes some things more of a challenge. Could you climb a mountain endless or do you have to look for ledges while climbing? And it makes getting the ability that creates updrafts for your glider a lot more fun. The alternatives to stamina for climbing are: no climbing, climbing only predefined mountains (maybe increasing the mountains to climb as you progress in game) or a fixed amount of climbing you can do. Same goes for swimming and gliding. I think these all are bad options, having complete freedom as a player to decide which mountain to scale and plan your route or cook meals especially for this is a cool challenge. So stamina is a clear win.
