i will love XIII as for versus is too early to know how it is

I think they can never truly "mature" it up because that would ignore a huge demographic. I also think you should look into SMT series, as that series might be what you are looking for.

Well, it's true that FF fits into a specific mold of plots and writting that is a bit of cliche, but I would look into FF12 if I were you, the story and the overall plot breaks away from that mold in a way that alienated a lot of fans because of it.

It's more of a mature, geo-political and vicious behind-curtains backstabing plot, it almost felt very un-Final Fantasy like, but that's why I consider it the best story in all FF games.

I concur with Acevil, you shoud look into the SMT series if you're looking for those kind of plots, especially the Persona series and DDS series.

Since I hear the first details about FF XIII Versus,I knew this were going to be the "FF" this current gen for me.

The atmosphere,character design,story direction so far,graphics...
Is not that I don't like it FF XIII(My second more waited game-after Versus :-p - ,is just that I'll prefer Versus at the moment.

I'm going to bet on Versus. The early reviews have been a little disappointing for FFXIII... plus the Versus director is Tetsuya Nomura (also the Concept Game Designer, Character Designer & Base Story) and the teaser trailer looks insane! The gameplay will also be more action orientated with real time combat supposedly so thats another big plus for me.

I think I will enjoy vs more since it is a action rpg. I hate turn based gameplay; I don't have the patience for it.

Also, if vs stays Exclusive, we may see towns and shops etc. Personally, I don't care about town or shops, but what I gather from a lot of threads on FFXIII, people seem pretty peeved at SE for taking them out.
