Forums - Nintendo Discussion - No October conference in America, no more surprises

http://www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=96450

"Since the E3 Expo in June, I think you and your readers have been pretty familiar with our holiday lineup. We don't have any last-minute megaton surprises to announce. And we've tried to be pretty good about giving media (and consumers!) opportunities to get hands-on time with our games. They were featured at the E3 Expo and then again this past weekend at PAX, where we showed off upcoming games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. For the first time we also showed off a new WiiWare Pokémon game called Pokémon Rumble.

In addition to the major trade shows, we've also held some mini media summits for individual games, like Metroid Prime: Trilogy, where writers got hands-on time with the game. For that particular game, Retro Studios also opened its doors to give a behind-the scenes look at the game.

For consumers, the Nintendo DSi Mobile Tour and the Wii Sports Resort Mobile Tour have been hitting concerts and festivals all summer. On top of all that, we have the Experience Nintendo Tour hitting the road to show off our games to members of the media around the country who haven't been able to make it to some of these other events.

So while we're not planning to do another big summit for all media this year, I think it's safe to say we're giving both consumers and writers like you ample opportunities to check out the games they want to see in advance of the holidays. Additionally, remember that in the past we have held a variety of consumer-sampling activities around the holidays. Your readers should be on the lookout for future opportunities to get their hands on the newest Nintendo titles, though there's nothing specific I can share with you just now." - Nintendo's Denise Kaigler

So, all theories about them having something big, like price cuts, colors or huge games for this year is debunked, since there won't be such event.

Also, there hasn't been any new info on the E3 games or the last October conference games anywhere, like they imply. All the events are just copy pastes from E3. At PAX for example, they had the same NSMBWii video from E3.

Looks like if they have anything big to announce it will be at the September event.

EDIT: A multicompany event called Kyoto Cross is happening the same day that the October Conference happened last year and Nintendo has already confirmed they will be attending for 2 days, so we can be almost sure that this is what's replacing the October Conference.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

They aren't attending either. There won't be more events this year where Nintendo is present.

Huh, so they'll just keep their mouths shut? Sounds suspicious, and...stupid.

This really isn't news. The only conference Nintendo of America had last October was a WiiWare demo right after Nintendo of Japan's October summit.

Iwata has also said that if he does lower the price or change the SKU that it would be a worldwide change. So, it makes sense that we'd hear the news from Iwata himself in Japan without a conference in America. Not saying there will be a price drop, but this "news" certainly doesn't rule it out.

first of all calm down everyone, before getting hyper

I can't believe this, they have to have some kind of announcement place

the EU conference thats happening in London might be that place

No new bundles then, none with NSMBWII?

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I suspect there won't be an October conference in Japan either, since Nintendo is going to that Kyoto Cross event there which falls the same day as their last October conference I think.

And like Denise said, "No more last minute megatons", not like there have been any megatons for the Wii this year, save for NSMBWii.
