Don't they mostly focus on the PC anyways?
Don't bother me that much cause I got a high end PC but I can see why ppl who only owns a ps3 are upset......but then again when did Valve actually put an effort developing for playstation console.
Valve shouldn't be working on the 360 either. All their magic happened on the PC.
Be PC exclusive Valve! PC gaming needs you!
I LOVE ICELAND!
Let's do some math here.
Small PC developer + 360 being so similar to the PC + PS3 being some fucked up peice of hardware = no PS3 games from the small PC developer.
Makes sense.

I dunno if you guys are incredibly lazy, or not intelligent enough to understand how businesses run, but I'll break it down for you - companies create games to make money, not to cater to whoever wants them. Now, Valve is a small development company. And guess what? Developing for additional platforms requires more resources than they have. Studies have shown that companies that focus on maintaining profitability, rather than attempting to grow and grow are more likely to survive and profit. And that is what Valve is doing, working with what they know and making money - not spreading themselves thin by doubling their development staff in an attempt to penetrate more markets.
I also love how you, in the same breath as you agree that they are lazy, praise Sony's first party studio's and Konami for a single platform title. It's almost as if a developer is only lazy/unintelligent if they choose not to program for your favorite console. Investing notably more effort into a console that yields lower sales doesn't seem to be the brightest decision to me, but what do I know, I only develop for PCs, I must be unintelligent too. |
Thank the Lord. Someone on these Forums is at least able to step back and look at the bigger picture.
I praise your sanity.
Valve games on PC and steam. Better optimized and cheaper.
Bought on steam L4F for $25 2 months after launch. While 360 owner bought by 50-60.
360 have to pay $50 a years to play online on L4D.
360 owners have to pay $7 for add-on.
PC is add-on is free, online is free
Free dedicated servers, mods, community servers.
And didn't even touched on Orange box.
Buying Valve games without steam is newbish.
The only reason they develop on 360 is because it's extra sales with little effort. They have no obligation to waste their time developing for PS3, because the architecture is too different to the 360 and PC, especially because their games probably wouldn't sell as well on PS3 as 360 or, especially, PC. Not sure why you'd want a Valve game on a console, though.
EDIT: Valve aren't lazy, they're just intelligent. A PS3 version is more work than it's worth.
Well after watching it Gabe didn't come off as a dick like most PS3 fans think he is. He knows that they didn't do the best job taking care of the PS3 fanbase and that PS3 owners who played the OB have a reason to be pissed off.
Plus he said that they didn't have the resoures to make a quailty game on the PS3 and that they won't continue to work on it.

Yeah! Damn those lazy ass developers not developing for both consoles like Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Q Games, Quantic Dream, Ninja Theory, Relentless Software, Slant Six Games and Eat Sleep Play. Oh and Konami not putting Metal Gear Solid 4 on 360. So damn lazy!

UT3 was a shitty game on the PC, let's face it.
