Lots of good games still coming for the PS3, but I don't think they'll make much of a difference. The N64 had Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64, while the Gamecube had Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime, but I think we all know how well those turned things around.

In case anyone doesn't remember, those are four of the top 5 highest rated games ever. Ironically the only other game in the top 5 is the Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast, which also didn't do too well.

The more I look at the charts, the more and more convinced I become of the quality of games having absolutely nothing to do with how well a system sells. =/

^^ Unfortunately true. Dreamcast had some of the best title lineup in its (short) lifetime, yet it was overshadowed by the upcoming PS2 (which by the way may have the best line-up EVER now, but back then, it was kinda abysmal).

A handful of extremely good "hardcore" games cannot save a system. If they could, then Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros., Wind Waker, Pikmin, and Eternal Darkness would have "saved" the Gamecube within its first year or two. And, hell, the 'Cube was only $150.

It's quantity, more than quality, which makes a system a "winner." Right now, the Wii is getting a greater quantity of games than either of the other two systems. Unless the PS3 can somehow recoup its losses in the quantity department, then it has no chance of winning.

I have pretty much stopped thinking that the PS3 will come out on top a while ago. I am just looking forward to all the great games that are just over the horizon. However, I am still hoping it gets second b/c I am no fan of MS and the 360.

fools count ps3 out. Literal fools. The wii is getting pro evolution soccer in february. pro evolution soccer will sell 3.4 million by then. Helping who?

until such time as the ps3 outsells both the wii and the 360 ,...consistantly...month after month.... until that time, the ps3 is going to remain where it is.

unfortunately for the HD graphics fanatics, the wii's selling at a pace -currently- that is unprecidented in console history, the only thing that comes close is the DS handheld..

for 10 MONTHS in the US the wii has been Essentially sold out. that has never happened with a video game console. sure there have been shortages (360, ps2) but those never lasted more than a few months as most. but an ENTIRE year of the company making as many as possible and still the game is flying off the shelves (in the us. other areas may be different) within a day of it coming in..

well until that changes, neither the 360 nor the ps3- new version or not- have a shot of catching up

Growing up knowing all about choral and orchestral music, I understand why most people like that video, darthdevidem...choral music tends to make things sound epic. It just seems a bit over the top to me though. Nothing against Sony, but flashing their logo like that a million times just seems arrogant and pointless to me. I'd hate it if Microsoft or Nintendo did it too. Yes, I know what your logo is and what your systems are...please show me something else...
