Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ever wonder if there's something wrong with you and your tastes in gaming?

With games coming more and more into the mainstream the self professed hardcore are concerned that their concept of game quality which they've nurtured over the years is not shared by the people that now obviously account for the majority of the market.

Combine this with the fact that this generation there is a larger difference between the offerings of some of the major players the vocal in the industry are more forceful than ever before in pushing and justifying their own tastes.

In the end your are under no obligation to like games that have high ratings. I'm all for acknowledging games with high production values but in the end you like what you like and damn everybody else.

I'm kinda in the same boat.

I absolutely hate sandbox games. Infamous reminded of it.

I don't like Tom Clancy games either. R6V2 is the closest I've come to enjoying them.

I don't get why Halo is praised as highly as it is. Same goes for Fallout 3. I hated Fallout 3.

Ya know I can't stand sandbox games either.  I've only played one to the end and I think I did it because I was bored.  Aside from that I don't like them.  I've only ever gotten into the Ghost Recon games.  All the other Tom Clancy games I've not liked... especially the Rainbow Six series.

Now I do disagree with you on the Halo.  Pretty much play most other shooters and then play Halo and you can see why it's differences give it praise.  Not to mention play Halo 1 and remember this was released in 2001.

I meant to add a 3 to the end of that Halo. I loved Halo: Combat Evolved. Still do!

Games that I oddly liked:

Dynasty Warriors
The Fullmetal Alchemist games on PS2

And a few more I suppose.

I think I have a weird taste in games, but that's ok with me. I just play what I like, and don't listen to what the critics say. I personally love Fallot 3. I had never heard of Fallout in my life before I just decided to play my roommate's copy one day. I was hooked from the start. On the other hand, I can't stand Ocarina of Time. I never could get into that game at all.

Add me on Xbox Live: TopCat8

yeah there are a few unsuccesful games that are really good such as folklore but mainly i like mainstream games except halo

Some people might find it odd/interesting that I loved Ocarina of Time, but hated Majora's Mask.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

I find the notion odd that everyone should think the same way. I don't understand the people that try to force their opinions and attitudes on to others, and I don't understand people that wonder whats wrong with themselves when they don't agree with the majority.

I'd find life utterly boring if everyone was the same.

Well anybody that likes ICO should ask themselves that question.

I don't have a problem. I, like most North Americans, like FPS, Racing games, and sports games. Its the people obsessed with JRPG's that are different unless they're from Japan.

Amen dude like i said in my first post i dont what all the buzz is about games like mass effect, it didnt boom in sales and blow every game out of the water it was just a good success.

Thinking of my own opinion as inferior would be weak of my personality. My personality is not weak. I don't care about what other people think, if I think a game is fun or not, I just think that.

That doesn't mean I don't try to convince people to play fun games they haven't played yet ;)
