Forums - Sales Discussion - Madworld's UK price plummets after 2 weeks...

Maybe the price cut will spur sales. I can see lot'sa folks having a problem with paying top dollar for a 5 hour, niche game.

Well if it happens in the states looks like I spent my money on the game a couple weeks too soon as I just bought it last weekend but at least its gone to a good cause ;P

Ouch :( what a shame... such a great game. Too bad, but it happens often. Hope this help with sales

Games always drop in price much faster in the UK than in most other countries.

Having said that it wouldn't surprise me if this happened in more countries. The PAL conversion is poor and the game is short.

It's an advantage to living in the EU and Japan. Prices drop so quickly.

As was Okami.. curse of the developer I guess.

Pixel Art can be fun.

One thing I have noticed from several "flops" this generation is how many people played the same copy of a game because of how short it was ... One thing I wonder is whether these games would be more successful had the publisher priced them more agressively initially.

Interesting suggestion, you'd entice more people to buy it early (which means some money to the developer, rather than just the retailer from a re-sell), and you'd also make it less worthwhile for the customer to return it (they wouldn't get that much money back for it).

Still though, I think short, heavily-directed experiences just aren't the way to go with video games. A game that is worth playing over and over is just valued so much more by the customer.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Honestly this sounds like a more appropriate price, I'd jump on that if this were happening in the US.

On the other hand I do feel bad for Sega, they haven't been having too many hits this gen outside of Sonic. After they experienced bomb after bomb after bomb after bomb on the PS360 I was hoping they'd fare a lot better finally changing their strategy up and giving some goods to the Wii. after  Granted, they were probably familiar with Clover's track record and Madworld will most likely end up outselling all the games mentioned before, but I was hoping for a better reception for Madworld.

Well there's always The Conduit. At least it's not niche.

That's true, though it lacks on quality and they decided to keep the only great title of those 4 "bombs" on the PS3.

You think it will pass 650k ? (Viking 360+PS3 sales)

Nasty. I wonder how much MadWorld's 480i, SD only display affected sales? This is a "core" game, and core gamers are the most likely to notice somthing like that.....Hmmmmm?

OMG now I have to buy this even more! Time to import from the UK then!
