Reality has a Nintendo bias.

This obviously comes on back of Sony marketing the product in a weird manner in EU at Leipsig and S-E do have a lot of money invested in the PS3 succeeding so their concern is justified. S-E are not the only ones who are worried about Sony's marketing policies as Konami (another past strong Sony supporter) have also announced their concern regarding the matter.

I am sure Sony will sort that out at TGS though. Given the timing of the article I think Waga wants them to sort it out at TGS as well.

@Dodece: Well, people react in this particular case, since it's S-E who talks.
And generally fanboys start to overreact to these.

@Gelmer: Somehow FF seems to have inflated all of a sudden. I have to admit, that i was more interested in the series, before they flooded the market with rehashes and the 13 FF 13 spinoffs. I'm not saying that FF:s wouldn't be good games, but i see people complain about even Mario Parties.

@NeoRatt: I wouldn't necessarily say so, S-E:s problem is, that they have more than 20M invested in the PS3 at the moment, and their biggest worry is that they may not get them back. They may be looking an easy way to jump ship, but they have invested too much on PS3 to do that.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Mario party has never been the main series for Mario though, nor has it ever been its bread and butter, it has also never been anything different than what it is now.

It's also S-E's fault for investing so much in the unproven new approach of Sony's next console. They and Konami will have to learn the hard way that backing last gen's big hitter blindly doesn't mean it'll be the same this gen. Everyone else was able to play it safe, but instead of try and begin damage control like Capcom who just ported everything they could to the 360, Konami and S-E are actually trying to fight for Sony in what is becomming a rather obvious losing struggle. Neither MGS or FF will be strong enough on their own to save the PS3 and that's why both S-E and Konami are panicking.

Sign the Resident_Evil_5_Petition for a Wii release or Dark_Samus is going to come get you.

They were the ones saying they wanted to be equal in deving for the new consoles but it seems they have all their prized eggs in one basket. Now that basket is close to a fire and they have no extinguisher. They may have to suck it up and take the loss. I see them just delaying the game even more trying to wait for a bigger install base. I don't think they will waste more money trying to port it. That is unless they can port it to the Wii for cheap.
The problem with delaying the game further is that it has to be justified with a spectacular game when it's released or they will still get burned. This is all if the PS3 sales don't pick up to their liking however.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I don't think they're panicking yet. Right now it's just worry but they will be panicking soon enough if the sales for MGS4 aren't steller. I know even SE will be watching that. Granted they're 2 different genres but MGS4 needs to be a system seller.

This thread was the first one.

Why did they have to say that? SquareEnix executives are covering their asses should their next big games on PS3 flop and drag the company into the red. I'm not saying this is bound to happen, but the possibility is there, so those guys have to establish an excuse now before Sony starts blaming the publishers...

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Wada makes valid points. Further proven by the fact that 50% of PS3 owners surveyed didn't know the system had a Blu-ray player.

When it comes to marketing Sony don't have a clue. They rely on brand name to do the work and on expensive systems brand name is not enough to achieve effective results. That said, XIII still won't go multi.
