Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the Wii ever get...

Don`t you dare look down on Fatal Frame 4 or I will cut your throat while you are sleeping.

@ El Dude - that's not my question at all. I'm asking if the Wii will get them. Because that's a question I wanted to ask. This isn't a console war thing or a prove a point thing. I'm wondering the Wii will get games in those genres that actually please the fans of those genres.

Survival horror looks to be one area in which the Wii will do well in (really would like to hear more about The Calling), I really do wonder if the Wii will ever get a good racing sim.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Sim racing games began on much less powerful systems than the Wii. Although, I think a racing game should lean more towards the arcade style than the simulation style on Wii, it'd be more popular and generally more fun if done right.

One thing I'd love on Wii: a new Driver. Driver got shit when it forgot what it was and started trying to be GTA. A Driver game that went back to basics on Wii could be awesome, in my opinion.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

@stof: I didn´t say they won´t get them... and I only said Nintendo doesn´t need them to make a point that they won´t try to get devs. to make chertain games for them... MS and Sony have to worry about a diverse game library to get ahead... Nintendo is doing just fine and doesn´t have to worry... but with the growing gap to the competition more and more devs will look for open spots in the Wii librabry... question is will it be the right devs and will they get the overall game and the controlls right... and for some games... like a real sim racer it might be hard to get the controlls to match the standards of fans (and lots racing sim fans are very picky in that area)...

I doubt it stof, or at least, not a big one.

The 2 biggest racing sim franchises seem to be owned by Sony and MS.

Nintendo are unlikely to make such a game - how many first party Nintendo games go for photorealism? Expect to see an F-zero game on the Wii though :)

That just leaves 3rd parties, and I can't see any of them making a big budget racing sim for the Wii.

As for fighting, yes, all the major fighting series's will come to the Wii.
Survival horror I've already made my opinion known
Hockey isn't exactly a genre :P but I'm sure EA will bring their hockey franchise to the Wii (or is that Ice hockey, I don't know much about sports video games)

Flight Combat - I'm sure there will be some - maybe a Star fox that doesn't suck as much as the GC ones, maybe a rogue squadron even

There is still plenty of time for Wii to release games in those genres/categories.

Yea, it certainly could use a sim driving or a decent fighting game.

Does it need these? No. But it would be good to expand its portfolio so every niche is sated.

Ah, sorry dude. I thought you were taking the defensive route. Now I see you were going for an explanation. And that works for me.

How about WRPG's?

Eventually, it will absorb all genres. It may take a while though. There's no reason to exclude WRPG's, it's not like they didn't exist before HD consoles.

That one my hopes aren't as high for.
