Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS360 owners to shift to the Wii?

Imo, No, im more then fine with Dual HD AKA PS360, i could careless about "Innovation" over HD graphics.

However there DS is quite an awesome handheld.

Many 3rd parties already have they're engines with the Wii...
Others are using refurbished PS2 engines.
I hope that By 2010 the games that come out on the Wii are all built in proper engines.

And about the hyping, well, that happens in every platform. Almost any game looks good till it cames out and people realized how craptacular it is.

I have Red Steel and Lair as perfect examples of craptacular games that had a great amount of hype. I like them both though. I am really good with Lair Motion controls so I can enjoy the game in a way many people can't :)

No. The PS2 had more great games than the Wii will ever have. I own a Wii, and have enjoyed a few games on it, but I find that the 360 and PS3 are consistently getting the best games.

I took a quick look at your library: Lumines, Super Street Fighter 2, Disgaea 3, etc...

Those are not graphical powerhouses, still you play them. Your post is a bit little contradictory. Don't be a hater man, maybe in the next months you'll realize that afterall Wii has some good titles you would like to play maybe? :)

"new" gaming experience??

lol, I have had the Wii for 1 year and 4 months i played so many games on wii. The only games that had feel of new Gaming experience is Mario Galaxy and Lostwinds.

Wii balance board games has no "new" experience, games like skating, snowboarding, this has been done before on the arcades. I played a lot of them. Also thier was a boxing game that many people have played on the arcade that require to move around ( back, forth, side to side) you wear this really cool boxing gloves its also the best boxing game. If you think punch out wii is a new experience read the last sentence i said!! I'll give the link of those arcades games if i can find it.

Dont give me any argument about railshooting(with guns) games being "new" because its been done before.

Now with the Wii Motion + arriving the only new experience i see is the sword fighting.

Im not hating it was my opinion, and no, Wii has NOTHING i'd like to play in future titles, well maybe Monster Hunter 3 since im gonna try the Original MH for PSP soon, but other then that EVEYTHING worth playing to me is on the HD consoles Exclusively, Final Fantasy Versus XIII along with regular, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, LO, IU, White Knight & Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, Etc Etc...

And thats just the JRPG's, FPS games aswel as 3rd person shooters would not be natural if not on the HD consoles.

Yea but as you can imagine those arcade salloons aren't properly at the corner. I agree that the majority of the Wii games were already possible here and there. But they weren't massified, and the Wii, with just one simple pad plus a nunchuck gather all those arcades together :)

There are many reazons why HARDCORE gamers from PS360 may shift to Wii: Dragon Quest X, Monter Hunter 3, House of the Dead Overkill, Tenchu 4, Fatal Frame 4, The Conduit, MadWorld, next Zelda ...

And the support will increase every year so expect Wii to be a hit related to hardcore games by 2010.

No offense, but this seems like flawed logic to me.

Zelda won't make people shift--they already would have shifted. If you're a fan of Zelda (and it is my favorite franchise, though I found TP a little disappointing), you already are in the Wii column.

Dragon Quest is the only really big franchise on that list, and hwo knows when X will see release. IX isn't even out yet. Monter Hunter does well in the portable sphere (and even there, like with Dragon Quest, primarily in Japan, where the Wii already is at its most dominant, so there's not much room to take even more of the PS share, much less the tiny tiny XBox share)--that doesn't mean it'll necessarily do well on the Wii. Monster Hunter 1 and 2 were not huge sellers by any means. And games like House of the Dead, Tenchu and Fatal Frame are also not huge sellers--they may be successful franchises, but we're not talking about a game changer a la Final Fantasy--a game that would make people want to switch over.

Madworld might be good, but the overall design makes it look a lot more like a cult game than a system seller--like pretty much everything Clover Studios did (not counting RE4, which was made before Clover came into existence).

From your list, that leaves the Conduit, which might become a huge hit and a game worth shifting consoles for, or it might not. The big question I guess is if it does something special that makes it an attractive shooter to the non-Wii crowd, or if it ends up a standard fair Halo-esque game with good Wii controls (and as we've already seen, Wii controls are not enough for people to shift consoles, or MP3 and Medol of Honor: Heroes would have both been huge games rather than modest hits).

Maybe more games, and more attractive ones, will be on the horizon, but right now the upcoming Wii line-up pales in comparison to either HD console, especially the PS3. Until (for example) Kingdom Hearts 3 finally does get made and possibly becomes a Wii game as some rumors have it, I don't think we'll see a big shift from HD users to Wii users.

And to beat everyone to the punch, no, I don't see any killer aps in any of the other announced Wii games. Perhaps the shift of these smaller franchises to the Wii will lead to bigger and bigger ones until, say, Final Fantasy XIV is announced as exclusive to the Wii, but considering how well the two HD consoles continue to sell relative to their market position (and, yes, how much better quality 3rd party games--other than rhythm games--sell on those consoles), I don't see it happening anytime soon, and thus many HD console gamers will stick to HD consoles. Wii may ending up besting PS2 in overall sales, but I seriously doubt it'll ever have the same market share as PS2.

My consoles and the fates they suffered:

Atari 7800 (Sold), Intellivision (Thrown out), Gameboy (Lost), Super Nintendo (Stolen), Super Nintendo (2nd copy) (Thrown out by mother), Nintendo 64 (Still own), Super Nintendo (3rd copy) (Still own), Wii (Sold)

A more detailed history appears on my profile.
