It's exaggeration on his part, but a single indpendent developer who's been liscensed to make a single game for THQ said something sort of along those lines, so I guess we can let it slide.

Sorry, but no he doesn't get to slide by on this one. " It was pretty easy, actually, because of the fact that we pitched it on the Wii — that was the magic word." Seems to me THQ was anxious to make more core games on the Wii. The developer at the end seems to say it would be back to minigames, but he isn't even close to in a position to decide that. More to the point he doesn't come close to giving a figure for how many copies the game would need to sell, let alone saying it needs millions. I am sick and tired of having him over-exagerrate some imaginary point to try and troll Wii fans. He has been doing it for far too long now. The developer says THQ was in love with the concept because it was on the Wii and supported it the whole time. There zero evidence for his claim.

Sarcasm meter, mate. See the number of qualifiers I added.

And don't let the trolls get to you. I haven't followed the dude enough to say whether you're right or not, though I'm willing to take your word on it by now, but from how I read this post you're giving him more thought than he deserves.

On a side-note, how do you quote just my post, without quoting the part that I quoted myself?

^^You have to quote it all, but just delete it when you write your post.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Well if third parties could get their foot out of their asses and create quality games that is NOT some F-ing party/mini/puzzel/pet/ low end N64 graphics game, then we can talk about me, or everyone else having a Wii, bying those game.

Until then I don't give a sh*t if only Nintendo games sells more then a million.

It's their own damn fault.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

But when I do that, I still end up with an empty box where the quote used to be. Some of you manage to not have that empty box, so clearly I'm doing something wrong.

I'll PM you about it so as not to give this thread more attention than it needs.

Third parties clearly don't take the Wii seriously and you can't blame them after seeing the million seller list. Every leading console has a lot of crappy games with high sales, but at least in the past there's been a balance.

You realize that there are almost twice as many third-party millon sellers on the Wii than there were on the Gamecube?

And that more than half the million sellers are third-party?

The list is mixed. The biggest difference between it and the other consoles are the lack of FPS games and the higher number of games aimed at younger audiences.

My question is why do people pick on games that sell.

Companies with a diversified portfolio will survive.
Companies making a single type of game will fail if the game does not deliver.

Think about it.

And just remember, the Wii is not for everyone.

How do those who prefer other consoles react to those who come in and dis the Xbox 360 or PS3 for the game selection ... wait a minute, I have probably done that noting they are heavy on FPS games -- never mind.

Yeah, my thoughts are that your post fails.

-The Conduit
-MadWorld
-House of the Dead
-Sonic and the Black Knight
-Monster Hunter 3
-No More Heroes 2
-Spyborgs
-Red Steel 2
-I Am Alive
-DRAGON QUEST X!
-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (2 games)
-Zack and Wiki 2
-Sam and Max

Not everyone can instantly switch over, but no one should be upset with that list, which I just pulled from the top of my head and is incomplete.

Whoa, what?! When did this get announced? Is it for real?

Companies who makes games which don't sell will fail, you heard it here first people.

I'd like to add a third item to your list though:

"Comapnies with a diversified portfolio will survive, unless the games don't sell'.

Even though I think you're just trying to be a smart ass ...

The truth is that in a creative field like videogames you're going to produce a product which simply doesn't sell well on occassion; this can be because the game didn't turn out as well as you expected, there was too much competition, or it just didn't resonate with the audience.

If you focus all of your resources on a single game, or a small collection of similar games, it is more likely that you would have enough failures to bankrupt your company than if you have a diversified library of games that cross a variety of platforms.

Majesco is a publisher which demonstrates this more than anyone else ... When they were focused on a handful of big budget (for the time) games they almost went bankrupt when Psychonaughts didn't sell well.
