Sales-> Halo

Quality-> Metroid

Hype-> Killzone

You can predict the future?

Can you tell me when the world will end?

Whoa, calm dow, man. Only speculating! sheeeesh...

You stated it as fact.

 And you bashed me. Anyway, sorry if I sounded absolute.

 You had to place questionmarks after each statement :).

Metroid is good but not OMG good, it is the best fps on the nintendo systems. The war is on!

Halo 3 vs metroid 3 vs killzone 2!!!

Who will win the war?

Are you joking? Metroid is an awesome franchise, and the only FPS game on console that I'm remotely interested in. I find Halo boring. I don't think you can compare Metroid to Killzone. Look at the Metroid Prime vs Killzone reviews -- 9.8 to 7.5? That's "best of the excellent games" being compared to "another mediocre shooter".

Killzone hasn't ever earned the right to be compared to top franchises like Halo and Metroid. If you think it has, you're really, really reaching.

Comparing it to Halo may be legitimate since Halo is considered by many to be among the best console FPS games. Metroid has a much larger adventure element to it which I feel makes it a different game type.

It's funny, Bozon on IGN replied to fanmail about his article...but before this video was released...so he continued to talk about how Nintendo is dropping the ball on ads, because they figure we'll just buy Metroid anyway.

Bozon said Nintendo needs to advertise this to Sony and Microsoft fans, not Nintendo fans...I think this newest trailer will probably do that. It made it look like an action movie, or like Halo...I wonder when IGN will make a new article saying, oh never mind hehe.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I can't speak to Leipzig, but Nintendo hasn't had a first party presence at the Tokyo Game Show in one and maybe even two console generations. The only thing Nintendo does at TGS is send a keynote speaker, usually Iwata or Miyamoto, to talk about the game industry. Sometimes they don't even do that. So I don't know why anyone would bring TGS to support a point Nintendo slacking off because of their success.

This may sound unusual, but I'm not sure Nintendo needs to advertise Metroid Prime all that much (at least in 2007) ...

As sad as it may sound for the dominant console, Metroid Prime 3 will be the only game in 2007 on the Wii that has a focus on first person shooter elements that is done particularly well; there may be a couple of other shooters released but nothing on the level of Metroid Prime 3. By the end of 2007 there will be at least 6 Million Wii owners in North America of which 1/3 to 2/3 will be looking to own a high quality shooter in the first person and Metroid Prime 3 has no competition..

I could be wrong, but I expect that Nintendo Wii start advertising Metroid Prime 3 just to constantly remind gamers who are picking up a Wii that it exists ...

I have concerns that MP3 may not do well because of who currently owns and who will be able to find a Wii by the end of this year.

I believe the majority of Wii owners are the casuals followed by the Zelda fans.  Nintendo faithful who aren't interested in Wii Sports or Link and his adventures has probably held off on buying a console since there isn't any games out there for them and the systems are a pain in the ass to get.  Nintendo could have sailed through 2007 without any of the 'Holy Trinity' titles and still would have sold every last Wii made.  The launch of three high quality titles (along with a handful of other good to great ones from third parties) is just going to make it that much harder to find a Wii this holiday season.  (Want to make some extra cash at the end of the year?  Buy some Wiis and sell them on eBay.)

So depending on how 'devout' Metroid and FPS fans are, the games sales may appear to be lackluster compared to crap like Mario Party 8 and the crap that is Wii Play.

Back to the topic, Matt C. has just made an ass of himself... again.  You'd think he was working for Sony with all the stupid things he's sid lately. ;)

Perhaps we should buy a Wii or two now and sell them at Christmas...but that would be evil...I'd probably make $150 on each Wii hehe.

Don't worry about it.  If Metroid fans can't get their hands on the Wii before Christmas, and Metroid is as good as Metroid Prime was, it will have legs instead of selling in a burst.  Look at Zelda -- a percentage of the people still buying Wiis buy Zelda because they're Zelda fans.  The same thing will happen with Metroid, Galaxy and Smash.

And by the way it's being advetised [Wii message/channel/trailer etc] it has a high chance of truly reaching the harcore audiece: those who already own a Wii and those who still dont. Look at how much hype a simple trailer conjured! Halo 3's E3 trailer didn't generate this much buzz. I hope Metroid does well in retail. It's an epic franchise, and one that deserves gamer's recognition.

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.

Nintendo seems rather drab on trying to promote games right now. They have always been a little weak on advertising so this is not a big shock. I mean, Strikers sold 160,000 last week and I never saw a commercial until two or three days after release. Just think about it, Nintendo seems to be doing well without hyping games. I wish they would do more hyping, but do they really need to with Metroid Prime 3? Probably not because most of us already intendo on getting our copy just like Mario Strikers Charged.

I find that when many companies are on top they seem to start working less hard and take things for granted than they would if they were struggling in second or third place. For example Nintendo isn't even putting much of an effort into the two of the biggest gaming shows this year, Leipzig Games Convention, which is the biggest in Europe, and Tokyo Game Show, which is the biggest in Japan (and likely the World since E3 was downsized).

I know some people will reply back that Nintendo usually doesn't do much at the Tokyo Game Show anyways but strangely enough back in 2005 when they were struggling they made an appearance and a presentation and made an effort.

E for All.

I'm sorry but the fact that they're the flagship company for THE FREAKING SUCCESSOR TO E3 pretty much negates anything you have to say.
