| HappySqurriel said: This may sound unusual, but I'm not sure Nintendo needs to advertise Metroid Prime all that much (at least in 2007) ... As sad as it may sound for the dominant console, Metroid Prime 3 will be the only game in 2007 on the Wii that has a focus on first person shooter elements that is done particularly well; there may be a couple of other shooters released but nothing on the level of Metroid Prime 3. By the end of 2007 there will be at least 6 Million Wii owners in North America of which 1/3 to 2/3 will be looking to own a high quality shooter in the first person and Metroid Prime 3 has no competition.. I could be wrong, but I expect that Nintendo Wii start advertising Metroid Prime 3 just to constantly remind gamers who are picking up a Wii that it exists ... |
I have concerns that MP3 may not do well because of who currently owns and who will be able to find a Wii by the end of this year.
I believe the majority of Wii owners are the casuals followed by the Zelda fans. Nintendo faithful who aren't interested in Wii Sports or Link and his adventures has probably held off on buying a console since there isn't any games out there for them and the systems are a pain in the ass to get. Nintendo could have sailed through 2007 without any of the 'Holy Trinity' titles and still would have sold every last Wii made. The launch of three high quality titles (along with a handful of other good to great ones from third parties) is just going to make it that much harder to find a Wii this holiday season. (Want to make some extra cash at the end of the year? Buy some Wiis and sell them on eBay.)
So depending on how 'devout' Metroid and FPS fans are, the games sales may appear to be lackluster compared to crap like Mario Party 8 and the crap that is Wii Play.

Back to the topic, Matt C. has just made an ass of himself... again. You'd think he was working for Sony with all the stupid things he's sid lately. ;)
