If you want to compare in the WHOOOOLE shooter genre is different that only compare 2 titles that have different perspective, different development and different forms of gameplay (while they're both shooters) only because they came at the same time frame.

For me, i compare Resistance 2 to the FPSs, and in that genre i think is the best of this year (CoD5 is more famous but i don't like it as much as CoD4).

Now, best overall? for me not, i have to bring LittleBigPlanet, Valkyria Chronicles, SSBB, Fable 2, Tales of Vesperia, and so many others, my personal pick: Metal Gear Solid 4...

Oh please, don't even start with the TPS/FPS argument. The only, and I mean only, reason why Gears isn't FPS is because of the cover system they have in place. It'd be awkward as hell if it was First Person. In fact you wouldn't need it at all since you'd just be able to crouch and leave it at that. Gears might as well be an FPS.

I'd argue that the 8 player co-op is very different from anything I've ever played. The 60 player multiplayer is different enough, as well, seeing as how we've never really seen anything like it on consoles before. While I haven't had the privilege of playing Gears 2 yet, I have heard from my friends who have played that it isn't "the next big thing," despite being an amazing game.

They both didnt live up to the hype. But R2 did so much better than Gears 2. And im a big xbox fan but neither was groundbreaking. Gears of War 1 was groundbreaking.



I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

R2 isn't comparable to Gears because they are in different genres on different systems. Is LBP comparable to Super Mario Galaxy?

Its got good graphics, not great. Its a great game, just not groundbreaking like everyone was making it out tobe.

 

oh at times resistance 2 has awesome graphics. Particularly water interaction :p.. There were just a few areas near the beginning that looked a little bland.

Fair question here.
Why is COD 5 selling more than Resistance 2?
GOW2 is selling more than COD5.
I have not played GOW2 nor Resistance 2, but COD5 is not that good. (imo)

Probably because CoD:WaW is the sequel to CoD4, which was really popular. As for CoD:WaW not being as good, most of my friends seem to share that same opinion, but they already bought the game expecting the next CoD4. GeoW2 is the sequel to an incredible game and had a huge fanbase already. R2 is the sequel to the best PS3 launch game, which isn't saying much, and many people might not be as interested in R2 because they weren't that impressed by the first one after seeing the likes of CoD4 and such. R2 was also released alongside a ton of other exclusives. Whew, that's a lot of acronyms! =)
