I'm with Tbone. I definitely think that LBP sales will go up next week, but I'm unsure how much. We'll just have to wait and see, but I don't think it will be quite the jump that you (the OP) are expecting.

Well the Walmart and Target by me had LBP for sale early. Gamestop did not. I am not sure of any other stores but with that many games being sold I am sure a lot of places had it. They weren’t that tough to find. I wonder how many sales were lost by the stores that followed the rules for this rocky launch? I know if I had a preorder out there I wouldn’t wait. I would have picked up a copy early and canceled my preorder.

I think the argument here is that the OP just pulled out the 5X multiplier next week pretty much out of nowhere...
It should have good sales next week, but to pretty much sell a million in NA alone next week? Probably not happening.

though technically illegal, i doubt anything will come of it, walmart one of the major offenders (did not honor the recall at all acted like it released last week) would end up hurting sony more if sony tried to punish walmart then if they just shrug it off. in our area the only people who honored the recall were gamestop

 Look at Uncharted.  It had a split week launch as well.  It sold 40k more in it's second week.  LBP's launch numbers will be in next week's data.

I doubt that, I had to wait to get it from an online retailer and I couldnt find it in any stores until Sunday.  I think you are going to be surprised.

If by "the people who wanted it got it" you mean the people who preordered it at Gamestop (which actually had limited supply) then still no...because only SOME of them got it because only a few Gamestops had it, and those that did had limited supply. Why don't we wait until EVERY RETAILER (major or small) HAS THE GAME AND OFFICIALLY RELEASES IT.

I think the interesting this is that most likely Fable 2 sales for week one will be > than LBP sales week 1+2. So even taking into account the fudged up launch it looks like Fable 2 beat the consensus and outsold LBP.

Interestingly, anyone want to take bets on which game will have higher LTD sales the first week of Jan 2009?
