Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo should add Gamecube games to the Virtual Console

That's a great idea and what do you think about the gameboy games i they put that on VC i would find that awesome

I think Gamecube-games for download is a crap-idea... Not only does the Wii play Gamecube-games and does it have slots for GC controllers and memory-cards. It also only has 512MB's of flash-memory... So it would be retarded and way to expensive to get a set-up to download GC-games. Also, the Wii doesn't have an ethernet-opening in it... So downloading 1.5 GB's is going to take some time... Especially if you look at how long it takes to even download a channel or a VC-game (3-5 minutes in my case).

So; in order to download and play Gamecube-games on Wii you need:

1) Bigger memory (talking about 10-20GB+ if you seriously want to download some games).

2) Ethernet-cable slot on Wii... Or take forever with Wii's wireless.

3) You need to have a Cube-controller... y know, lots of casuals out there... And not so many of them own a Cube.

4) Reasonable price.

5) Agreement with 3rd-parties in order to download great 3rd party games like MGS: The Twin Snakes, Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Killer 7 and Beyond good and Evil for example.

= Way to much bogus to do!

I think Nintendo can better (re-)release wavebirds for a nice price... Preverably in the colour white. Isn't that a good idea?! Gamecube-controllers are rare these days and there's animo for them!

EDIT: And if you want Gamecube-games... Get them 2nd-hand from gamestores or E-bay... If you want them sealed, search E-bay... You can still find 'em rather easily.

Don't think its a good idea since the game size is big and the storage problem is not solved for the Wii yet.

No need for that, you still can buy GC for cheap and play them on your Wii, some titles are hard to get for example ToS or FE:PoR (luckily i got them on my GC on release) but there are still tones of games on the shelves.

BC for the Wii is full of win, many people did not have Gamecube last generation and they missed out on quality games.

Here are some things I want with Gamecube games.
1. Download from Virtual Console for 1500 points
2. Insert the disc and load them to the harddrive
3. Classic controller use.

Then I'd be happy

I hope so but it doesn't seem likely because the wii can play gc games.

As long as the put Majora's Mask on soon, I don't care what they do, I certainly wouldn't buy any GC games for it.

The main reason there's even Xbox Originals on XBLA in the first place is that the 360 is not fully BC with all original Xbox games, only certain ones... unlike the Wii which is fully backwards compatable with all GameCube games, controllers and memory cards, thats why the Wii is basically "2 GameCubes taped together"

Not to mention the fact that the 360 has HDDs ranging from 20GB to 120GB, more then enough to hold all the Xbox Originals. Even IF Nintendo were to actually release some kind of HDD add-on or allow for SD cards to be used to store and run all games, it still wouldn't be enough memory... Wii can only read SD cards up to 2 gigs right now, and I'd seriously doubt they would bother to release a storage unit even close to the minimum of the 360's HDD sizes.

And honestly... why would you spend roughly $15-$20, maybe more, on downloadable versions of old GC games when you can pick them up used and play them on your Wii anyway for about half those prices on average.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Nice idea, But Nintendo will do this next gen

They will do this next-gen, and what's the point of downloading them if the wii can already play GC games? Right now, I just whant more n64 games.
