Nintendo took advantage on the game genres they know because they know how to deliver.
The answer is very simple for why third party titles aren't selling that well.... Three words: development-marketing-hype. Once developers understand and adapt them properly, it will be successful. Wii is having the same path as the DS did. Really good games come later on during the system's lifecycle. We are just beginning to see it after almost two years.
About PS3:
The demographic is more predictable than the Wii's, this is why there are many good releases because they can know or get close to know what and how fans want from a game. development-marketing-hype are way different on PS3 and Wii.
the_bloodwalker, thats true, but i seriously (as my opinion) think as for games the ps3 got a more wider market than the wii have right now.
nintendo got success now, but they will be able to manage to third party get it cake like sony or even microsoft did?

seriously, all we know of FFvsXIII is that it will be a miracle if we see it in 2009. If, like you say, Kingdom Hearts will be made by the FFvs team we won't see a KH before 2012.
Do you really think that Square will leave its 3rd most important series to be released somewhere at the end of this gen? Which totally rules out a second current gen KH. Totally not going to happen. Square needs that game sooner, whether it will be Ps3, 360 or Wii.
To Joseph: You kind of ignore the fact that Square named Wii as one of their main platforms (DS, PS3 and Wii), so it is logical that their 3rd main franchise comes to Wii. (I'm not saying it will, but you make it look like it's impossible).
You also assume that every PS2 owner is sticking to the Sony brand. A quick look at the numbers on this site will tell you that this is not the case at all. It's absolutely clear that the majority of PS2 owners have jumped to Wii. Especially in Japan the Wii is the console of choice, and KH sells about half in Japan. There are loads of Wii owners that played KH1+2.
there isn't a guitar hero I and II are not compatible with ps3, only guitar hero 3.
GTA4 is not hardcore, even my gramps play GTA4 for christ sake, its game that the whole world play... thats why it gets it huge sales from.

Crystals Chronicles and Dragon quest :swords doesn't sound like games to you?
those are exclusives to the system.
ps3 only have ff13 so far.
xbox360: got undiscovery, star ocean 4
psp: dissidia, birth by sleep, crisis core
ds: dragon quest ix, the world ends with you, 358/2.
its more logical to release a new IP to the wii that use the wiimote, than taking a big proyect like kh3 to a weaker machine.
than releasing a game that will keep its main style, (a button masher according to nomura itself), and will look better in other consoles.

kh hearts staff is working on versus, part of it moved to ff13 since the needed more developers and split with birth by sleep and 358/2
until ff13 birth by sleep 358 is released you won't see much of kh3

This is hilarious. Clearly you are unable to accept that the main console in Japan will be Wii, that just so happens to be winning worldwide as well. Your dead horse about the looks of the game are complete and utter nonsense. It will look notably better than the PS2 version. Your list only further underlines the lack of big SE franchises on Wii. Do you really think SE will just ignore the winning console, especially when most of the Japanese competitiors are noticably switching development to Wii? They WILL have big stuff for Wii. SE has always been about the biggest profits. |
