Wii:

- Sonic Colors.

Oh yeah, that one was a stunner for the Wii, I swear it almost looked like a 360 game at times.

I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves at times.

These are the games that I appreciated the visuals the most:

PS3:  Final Fantasy XIII

Wii: Punch Out!!

It was a mixed bag, low resolution on the 360 but great lighting when stuff went crazy.

Speaking of Alan Wake, I am still hoping for a sequel.

I know, right? It's one of my favorite games ever.

Some of the games in the 360 camp started as exclusive and then went multiplat after a year. Braid and Bastion to be specific. I think Catherine was multi plat on day one.

Id toss Alan Wake in there somewhere. Personally, I thought Witcher 2 looked like ass but a lot of people praised the port. I guess a lot of the prettier games on 360 werent exclusive. They just werent on PS3.

Thanks for all the answers so far!

By the way, how does Alan Wake looks on Xbox 360? I have the PC version, and I think it still looks really good.

It looks good with some excellent lighting and particle effects but I wouldn't say it's among the best looking games on the system, as the textures can be a bit rough.

Very true. I feel like due to the system's technically underpowered nature a lot of the best looking Wii games don't get credit for it; Jett Rocket, Fast Racing League, Silent Hill Shattered Memories and Monster Hunter Tri also come to mind in this respect.

I just want to bring Metroid Prime 3 to the table as one of the Wii’s best visuals contender.

Great call; definitely right up there as far as Wii graphics go. Lots of nice geometric and texture detail and some really snazzy particles at a silky smooth 60fps.

Wii: LoZ Skyward Sword

I've always found this pick a curious one; to me it just doesn't look that impressive even by Wii standards, I think I could easily name 20 Wii games that look better.

The techniques they employed in it hide very well the limitations of the console, not to mention that also manage to make it very atmospheric with its watercolor look. Play the game on an emulator on HD, and it becomes a looker.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Having only played it natively on my Wii I guess i always just found it looked rather bland and muddy without a lot of the cool shader effects seen in games like Mario Galaxy. I kinda expected more from what was really the last big-budget Wii games I suppose.

I didn’t play Wii or PS3, so I can’t comment. But any answer for 360 other then Halo 4 requires a detailed explanation for me ;)

To this day I’m amazed a 2005 console can do what Halo 4 showed, it made Halo 3 look like Halo 1

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Well, as someone who chose another game, (Gears Judgement) I guess my explanation would be that as amazing as Halo 4 looks (and it also blows my mind that 2005 hardware can pull of either game) Judgement had more detailed textures while maintaining equally as great lighting.

Playstation 3:

- The Last of Us.

Xbox 360:

- Halo 4.

Wii:

- Sonic Colors.

Multiplatform:

- Battlefield 4. - By this point, the game on PC looked a generation ahead of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. That deferred renderer.

I basically agree with all of this.

I also feel CoD:AW was an impressive 60 fps game on 7th gen. Destiny looked really good for a large scale 7th gen game, the lighting resembled 8th gen games and had a rock solid 30 fps. But BF4 is overall more impressive visually.

I don't have any strong feelings on Wii graphics. Sonic Colors looked pretty good. Mario Galaxy games looked more polished in my memory. Maybe RE4, its the best looking game on Nintendo consoles for two generations.
