I agree with Shikamaru. It's a fun, well made, well thought out game that is lite on content. Microsoft, or any other big publisher, should never do early access type of games. I understand that this might have been Ninja Theory plan before the acquisition, but this plan should have been changed since they have Microsoft resources now and can wait until this game is ready.

Bleeding edge is very fun when you have a proper team, easy to jump into as well.

its biggest problem right now is that it’s very barebones but that will change with time.

Nier Replicant remake getting an Xbox release Day one is extremely surprising, maybe now SE won’t treat us as second class citizens.

I was going to try to track down an original copy of Nier for the 360 but this announcement will make me give up on that search. Now if only they could give us an Automata physical release.

According to this article, Nier Automata is coming to Gamepass on April 2nd and Gamepass is launching in Japan soon.

That would be amazing but Game Pass titles rarely release on the first couple of days of the month.

There was a time where the games would be available on the 1st of a month but the announcements ususally happen around the 5th nowadays.

EDIT: Oh I see it was announced during a Square-Enix stream where they also showed to Nier remaster.

While both are light on content at launch, Bleeding Edge isn't like Sea of Thieves. Sea of Thieves offered something truly unique and even though this sounds like a cliché, players created the content.

I still sometimes miss those early months of Sea of Thieves. Content Rare has added is great, but it also killed some of that player created stuff.

Those who played it at launch know what I mean. Rest of you missed out on some epic adventures and player interactions :P

Can someone remind me of all the studios under MS' umbrella? I'd like to take a look at what each of their currently owned studios has done in the past, game wise.

Fable 4 (hopefully rumor is true and we aren't disappointed)

I like Fable, but I would not be disappointed if they were working on a new IP.

I think that it just shows that Nier: Automata sold pretty well for a late port on Xbox One to justify to port original game to the platform as well. I don't see the situation with SE changing for a lot better as they've been the worst big Japanese publisher in terms of Xbox support and still remain the worst. As for original copy, it was not hard to find for me two years ago but it's pretty expensive (30$ for a 2010 game). Still, I don't regret paying for it because the game is amazing and I personally liked it more than Automata. This remaster is gonna be a bit different so if you have 360, I'd recommend to play the original game as well.

My concern about them releasing Bleeding Edge with so little content is that the playerbase will die off before they can get the level of content up to where it should have been. Sometimes the early access model can work, like with Sea of Thieves, but Sea of Thieves was a streamer/Youtuber bait game, all that free publicity helped to keep it alive while it got updates every few months. Bleeding Edge doesn't have that advantage, it is already alot less popular on release than Sea of Thieves was, only around 200 viewers on Twitch right now and none of the youtubers I follow are playing it, not even Achievement Hunter has played it yet. I think they would have been much better off if they had pushed the release until Holiday 2020 and released it as a cross-gen title, that would have not only given them time to get more modes, maps, and characters done, but also to get some next-gen graphical improvements ready, having a next-gen version would have boosted sales since early next-gen titles typically sell well. I'm very concerned that lobbies will be empty in a few months, which sucks because the game is alot of fun.

Also worth noting that Bleeding Edge doesn't have the advantage of a large team to make post-release content for it. Rare seems to have kept their Sea of Thieves team quite large after release, most likely 50+ people, maybe even closer to 100. Ninja Theory has spread themselves thin working on 3+ projects at once with just 120 developers total, post-release team for Bleeding Edge is probably only like 20-30 people, I'm expecting just a trickle of new content, not big updates with multiple new heroes and maps every couple of months.

That's exactly what would happen. Steam player count is around 2 players per day already which doesn't sound good. I think that Microsoft already knew what's gonna happen probably (open beta engagement data should have been enough to project the upcoming interest in the game), so that's the reason why the game had no marketing. It really sucks though for people who enjoy it and especially for people who bought it instead of playing through GamePass. Because I don't expect any support, content addition and so on for this game.

Bleeding Edge not having much marketing is most likely because of game pass. It's a small title so why waste resources, I bet there's a huge number of people who played it already.

They will support and add content for sure, even if it's just smaller updates.

edit. " Steam player count is around 2 players per day already which doesn't sound good "

Where did you get that from derbysquirtle? 477 people currently playing on Steam.

Bungie coming out on top was to be expected.
