How does everyone feel about no multiplayer? I hope this means a longer story (25 - 30 hours).

I didn't play a lot of TLOU multiplayer but it was a nice change of pace from COD & Killzone.

It will be longer according to Neil Druckman - "What we realized pretty early on is that we were putting together Naughty Dog's most ambitious and longest game in our 35-year history. To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive."

As for the lack of Multiplayer, I've heard good things about Uncharted and especially TLOU multiplayer, but I've personally never played the multiplayer in a Naughty Dog game. So it doesn't matter to me.

I never played the MP for TLOU and I never intended on playing it in TLOU2. I knew a lot of people would be disappointed though I heard a lot of good things about the MP TLOU.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved TLOU's MP. Hope we can still get more in the future. At least the extra focus should make for an even better (and longer) SP campaign - and less worry about MT's and such tainting the experience.

Really hope we'll get MP in dlc or something, though...

+1

I'm so bummed about no multiplayer as the one in TLOU is my fave of all PS4 games. Now I'll probably wait for the PS5 version :(

The entire trailer was chopped together using carefully selected segments. Easyallies spotted the scene where Ellie meets Joel is too different scenes as she is out doors and Joel is indoors.

Secondly, where Ellie falls in the beginning with Dina, the threat seems to be clickers but the next scene where we believe Dina gets killed, the threat is human.

IMO, the whole trailer was a red herring. Joel is the one who gets killed in the trailer. The journey starts off with Joel and Ellie wanting to rescue a kidnapped Dina and ends up as a revenge trip where at the end she does Joel right.

It will mirror TLOU where we start off doing a little revenge run and the actual journey becomes about rescuing Ellie where at the end we do right by Ellie in Joel's eyes.

This will start of as a rescue for Dina and then turn to revenge.

Again, if Joel is dead, then who drives the car at 2:17?

Joel isn't dead.

At don't know when I'm the story this takes place, whether it is before or after his death. I'm hoping he don't die, but it cannot be ruled out.

Well this was or is the fear of some, that the radio silence may be due to lack of titles ready to go for next gen. Based on the last couple of gens it's not like they would be completely out to left field thinking it's somewhat possible. Not like PS has had nothing at all to show before during launch, but based on the heavy hitters that have been shown well in advance for quite some time, and yet now, dead silence, so it's not crazy for some to wonder.

I myself agree that PS likely has a few worthy games on schedule and that has been the plan for quite some time on their part. With all the extra polish time these PS4 games have been getting over the years, it's left plenty of time for new IP, sequels, prequels, etc, for PS5 from the get go.

It is in fact completely crazy to thing that because why would Sony be announcing games for the PS5 before they formally announce the console? In previous gens Sony’s studios were busy making current gen games right till the last year or so.

this time GG and Polyphony have been working on next gen for 3-4 years before the console comes out. Santa Monica, and Insomniac got 2-3 year head start, Bend will have a 1.5 year head start, etc. This will not be like PS4’s launch. Anyone who thinks we’re looking at a slow start needs to look deeper.

Announcing games early yes, but how much has been said about games in general for next gen period? Nothing really as far as I have seen, other than faster load times. Now if the PS4 game announcements and information was spread out more evenly, then this more silent gap wouldn't seem so odd. I also think that PS better understands gaming fans and giving them too much info like MS does, leads to poorer results when official announcements are made and games are launched. Keeping quiet will work wonders if they have the goods to wow.

LOL

The whole Joel-thing is adressed in this Interview.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-09-26-on-fridging-joels-return-and-revenge-a-short-chat-with-the-last-of-us-part-2s-writer

"A lot of people are surprised that Joel is there.

Halley Gross: We like to keep people on their toes!

So he's very much alive then?

Halley Gross: The game is very much about Joel and Ellie's relationship, and the evolution of their relationship.

Some people are still convincing themselves that he's a hallucination. We've seen how Ellie's changed since the last game - how has Joel changed?

Halley Gross: That took place four years before this one, and they've really settled into this community, he's gotten closer to his brother Tommy - who you see Ellie is looking for in the demo. It's very much about what it is to have a relationship. In the first game, Ellie's 14, he becomes a dad, he's very much in control of the situation, he knows what's right and what's best for her. A lot of the story is what it is to have a relationship with a kid who's growing up, who's becoming independent, who wants to make her own choices and makes those choices whether you like it or not. He's also growing up, and also maturing. "

Just saw the trailer. So, Good.

Hoping we get to play as Joel too!

So seems like they are either confirming Joel is alive or that they want us to think it is like that to make a bigger impact (that I don't want).

And on the MP, never cared, never will. I could say that they not making MP would make they focus on the SP, but ND is big enough to be able to do both if they choose. So I'm a little sad for the friends that wanted to play the MP.

Perhaps the standalone DLC will have MP, or they make a free MP DLC for the PS5 launch to boost sales.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Thanks for your consideration.

It's tough reading so many posts saying that no mp is great news.
