Microsoft Has No Further Plans To Bring First-Party Games to Other Platforms

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Microsoft Has No Further Plans To Bring First-Party Games to Other Platforms

"I mean... why not read the article in the OP? It literally addresses both points you raise. Windows is a Microsoft platform. And they intend to honor the releases already in the works when they bought these studios, but don't plan on releasing future games on other consoles.

Put forth at least a little effort before jumping to a predetermined conclusion." - LudicrousSpeed

To be fair, at that point because the OP didnt put any content in his oringal post, expect a link, all I had read at that point was just the Title of the thread, and it was a reactionary message.

The details that its only future content, after these things come out, and only with the expection of other consoles ect.

You see how messy that messageing from MS is?
If what you say changes on a weekly basis, and you need to read the fineprint, and Thread titles are misleading, and possbily article names too....

Yeah its bad communication.
Good messageing is short, precise, doesnt require reading fine print, and doesnt sway left and right, week by week.

If you read the article:

We have no plans to further expand our exclusive first party games to other consoles.

With gamepass on PC they bring their games on pc

And studios that they acquired who were making a game for multiply systems will still release the game on the other systems this is known for a long time :s.

New games from the studious like bleeding egde will be on Xbox/PC.

Makes sense. With next gen on the horizon they probably want to keep their games on Xbox/PC for now.

Alright you two.... be honest... how long until the next Steam/Switch/PS4 announcement from a Microsoft Studio?

Maybe, probably, not right now, no current plans...

How long does this PR quote last? until its proven wrong?

Idk I don't work for Microsoft.

Didn't they just announce Ori and the Blind Forest on Switch? Also this contradicts their several statements about Xbox games aiming for a much wider audience.

.

I'm sleepy, time for a nappy!

My favorite thing about VGC is reading these interviews and comments from people at Microsoft or their studios and seeing how some here will twist and turn and remove context until they're left with what they wanted those interviewees to say in the first place. For example Matt Booty said if the game would benefit from a multiplatform release in terms of the way the game is designed, it could release on other platforms. Like Minecraft. But big releases would stay off other consoles. Nothing about "if they want to". Why wouldn't any developer WANT their games to be multiplat? You think the guys at Naughty Dog, all things being equal, still being funded by Sony, wouldn't want their art to be experienced by PC and Xbone users as well? Of course they would WANT that.

Another example of removing context and twisting words is this downplaying 60 frames per second nonsense. Never happened. Of course they harped on 4k, just like Sony did marketing the Pro. And always good to see your latest "if X happens, MS isn't making any more consoles" prediction. You're like 0 for 23 or something, but keep swinging for the fences friend lol

I love your ability to read minds.

So every dev would love to have their games on all systems as well? I very much doubt most of Nintendo developers have any high wish that their games release on Xbox or PS. If they were so passionate at their games being in all system they would likely been looking to go to a 3rd party.

Every dev wants as many people to play their games as possible. The only reason you see exclusive deals or games not releasing in particular platforms is money. Which is why I said all things being equal. These people are artists, why wouldn’t they want as many people as possible to experience their work? Either way you’re harping on a small part of my post that frankly I don’t feel like bickering about 🖖

After all the posts I will read the news as "Microsoft has no plans" =p

This new is somewhat unnecessary. Until Scarlet launch and we see the next games from the MS Studios whatever was said here is more or less pointless.

Small part of your post?

It is a mountain side assumption you made.

If all artists wanted to have their art exposed to as much people as possible you wouldn't have underground. Not everyone want the same thing as you seem to assume.

I will be playing Halo on my Switch sooner or later, I bet my house on it.

Well seems like a lot of users were wrong on the thread of Halo on Switch.

No, people were arguing Halo on Switch SHOULD happen. Not that it will happen. Perhaps you didn't read the thread title.

This article is also being taken out of context. They're talking about the NEW games being created by their recently purchased studios. "As these new studios transitioned in, we were aware of some existing commitments to other platforms and will honor them. However, going forward these new studios will focus on making games for our platforms."

Maybe Switch support is over for MS, we don't know. But we can still discuss what we would like MS to put on Switch.

Yes, it releases on the Switch next month I believe, but it doesn't contradict anything. That statement was about Xcloud releasing on phones, which is a much wider audience then any console could offer.

You're right, the quote only addresses the studios they've acquired already committed to making games, e.g Wasteland 3, Outer Worlds, and doesn't address Ori/Minecraft Dungeons at all.

The person being interviewed is only claiming Obsidian/Inxile etc won't be making games for other consoles, not that none of microsoft games will come to other consoles.
