Man I really hope that Gen 8 at least comes close to living up to my expectations. Please don't look like Let's Go, please don't look like Let's Go!

At this point I'm wondering what will be left for e3

Just as a quick multi poll of sorts, what are people wanting/expecting??

I mean like

Title
Art Style
Battle system
Catching system
Adventure style
Region base
Story
Release date
Number of new Pokemon

Personally:
I want

Title: Pokemon (that's it)

Art Style - either a return to pixel art as in Gen V, or more polished celshading as in Ni No Kuni or Dragon Quest XI

Battle system- The traditional stuff, get rid of z-moves though. Maybe expand movesets to 5. Return of all standard features like abilities, double/triple battles.

Catching system- straight up traditional catching mechanics, no motion controls

Adventure style - a guided open world, where there is a story compelling you to go somewhere, but the gyms can be done in any order and scale accordingly.

Region base - Australia.

Release date - September.

Number of new Pokemon - 120.

I expect:

Title: Pokemon Amethyst/Pokemon Topaz

Art Style - slightly better than Let's Go.

Battle system- some new gimmick added that just congests battles with more long animations

Catching system - Motion controls shoehorned in, 'the reception to let's go was very positive' hahaha

Adventure style - so linear it may as well be a visual novel

Region base - UK

Story- Go fight gyms, beat bad team in spare time

Release date- November

Number of new Pokemon - 60, as well as 15 new forms for Kanto Pokemon

Title

-Plus and Minus is the best I can think of off the top of my head, lol

Art Style

-I want to see a sort of cell-shaded look based on the Pokemon Anime. Sun/Moon was kind of going for this, but was greatly held back by 3DS limitations.

Battle system

-Return to turn based, nothing fancy, but I want a total animation overhaul with much cooler animations, less over the top than Z moves and with shorter animations than Z moves, but alot cooler than what we had in Sun/Moon for basic moves.

Catching system

-Weaken then capture. They can bring back the motion control ball tossing for the let's go fans, as long as you can still press a simple button to do it as well.

Adventure style

-I want to see visible Pokemon in the wild like Let's Go, but I want larger, more open routes, towns, and cities than ever before, with a guided story and a return to classic gyms.

Region base

-Italy was what was teased in Sun/Moon, so I would assume that we would go there. Would be cool if there was a post-game in Kalos since Italy and France are neighbors, since we never got a Pokemon Z.

Story

-I want a proper villain team again, Guzma and Team Skull were laughable. I would like to see Lilly return in some fashion with the ending where she left Alola to go adventuring made canon. Would be cool to see Zinnia from Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby return as well.

Release date

-November or December 2019 work for me.

Number of new Pokemon

-Maybe 60, not expecting alot of new Pokemon since I am hoping for a new engine with new and improved character models for all 809 current Pokemon. Maybe 20 new regional variants as well.

7 minutes isn’t just going to be an announcement. If that’s the case, what are they doing for the other 6 and a half minutes? If it’s only a teaser trailer, what are they doing for the extra 5-6 minutes?

If that’s the case, they probably have updates on Pokémon Let’s Go.

They always do it like that for new generation announcements... spend a few minutes talking about some random stuff, then show the next generation trailer, end of Direct. It was like that for both X/Y and Sun/Moon. But of course, people forget things.

Well, we still haven't seen any trailers for Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, as well as any surprise announcements, including the one that Nintendo said fans will be very excited to hear about. So there's still quite a bit to look forward to.

I believe "that" announcement was Zelda LA

Definitely was.

Why do people seriously still want this? Aren't 800 Pokémon enough already? I hate the idea that every generation needs a huge amount of new Pokémon to be good, especially when we have so many already. I'd rather continue with the smaller rosters so completing the National Pokédex, or even just being able to recognize every Pokémon doesn't become an even bigger problem than it is.

Furthermore, every large roster of Pokémon has always had loads of random filler Pokémon like the "generic bat of this generation" or the "generic fish of this generation" and honestly we have more than enough of those already. I'm all for them focusing on only making new Pokémon when they're gonna be unique and interesting, and while I hate Sun/Moon's roster, I can at least respect that they tried to do that. X/Y's roster is far and away the best ever in my opinion, no contest, and it only had 72.

This, absolutely. I was rather disappointed when I saw that we were only getting 69 new Pokémon in gen 6, but more and more I got to realise that that was a great move. They cut out the forgettable filler mons, which was a pretty big problem that B&W had. With 800 Pokémon, they've basically used every concept or animal already. Except for dolphins.

I agree. Plusle and Minun should absolutely be the mascots of the new games.
