The mysterious new mode is the biggest thing I'm excited to see. There are so many fighters already in this game, how many could possibly be left?

Yeah, they better deliver on the blurred mode.Owning up to the name of Ultimate, I am expecting the best single player content until today in Smash history.Which means I expect a Sub Space Emissary 2 to be revealed.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm really looking forward to this one. The wait for the game and the direct is going to be eternal.

Hopefully the last minute surprise in the direct will be the announcement of the N64 mini for this holiday to counter the Psone mini.... oh a man can dream

40 mins? Seems like overkill

Not really.  If they do a repeat of the Smash Wii U's '50-fact Extravaganza' then it will easily fit the 40 min timeframe since that one was 35 min with two new character reveals.  It's why I wouldn't see the 40min length as a confirmation of the recent leak like others around the internet are doing.

I think what makes it longer is that we had e3 and the recent direct which covered a lot of Smash.

I think Nintendo never allocated altogether so much presentation time for one video game before:

Direct March 2018: 1 minute
e3 2018: 25 minutes
Direct August 2018: 27 minutes
Direct September 2018: 3 minutes
Upcoming Direct November 2018: 40 minutes

Totaled up Smash aired on Nintendo presentation (excluding Treehouses): 96 minutes

Probably gonna be a single player story mode.

They did it before with Smash 4.

You had E3 2013's initial Smash Reveal (+ Wii Fit Trainer's reveal), Smash Direct in April 2014, E3 2014 (along with the subtle Pac-Man reveal at a closed door presentation), Smash Wii U's 50 Fact Extravaganza, the Mewtwo, Lucas, and Smash Ballot reveal in the April Fool's Direct 2015, New Smash Content at E3 2015, Cloud's reveal in the November 2015 Direct, and the final Smash 4 Presentation in December 2015. Don't have time to sum up the total amount of time, but it's extensive.

Please, please, PLEASE, let Skull Kid be playable !
