Spirit mode seems almost like a replacement for Event mode, rather than something completely new - though there's also an RPG lite element to it in the equipable aspect.

I'm a bit disappointed so far - I'd hoped for a couple more newcomers and for something closer to Adventure/Subspace in single-player. It does seem like there's an element of depth to it. And, to be fair, the whole game is likely very generous in terms of content overall.
