I'm surprised I didn't see this game plastered all over the X1 UI or Gamepass.

I'm surprised the reviews have done so well. You would think the critics might have some fatigue with the series. But they manage to keep it fresh and do so in a relatively short development period. This is a very impressive studio.

Yeah, it's amazing how fast they can churn out quality games.

And since there likely is no Forza 3 in 2019, they will get three years for Horizon 5 development, which is great.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I think you meant to say that there will be no Forza Motorsports 8 next year.  Yeah, that has pretty much been confirmed but that doesn't mean that Horizon will get away from the two year production cycle.  Forza Horizon 5 in 2020 would be a very good launch title for the next XBox.

There is no chance we get two forza titles in one year. Also Halo Infinite eill be the premier launch title of the Scarlet. Horizon 5 will be the holiday 2021 title.

MS needs a big launch for the XB5.  Halo and Horizon are their big guns.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them Both during the launch window, with Motorsport and Gears the next year.  I also expect a big, new IP near launch.

Launching both big games at the same time would be an idiotic move. One is gonna hurt the other (or both will hurt each other). This is the same as people wanting Mario and Zelda both to be there at launch, because Zelda wouldnt have done nearly as good if it shared its launch with odyssey. MS should space their titles out.

Horizon is big enough to be a premier holiday title, while motorsport can play a support role. Also, why cant we let playground have a third year for additional development? I dont want a repeat of Forza 5.

Launching with two big games is not idiotic, it is smart.  If MS wants to gain market share next generation (which they certainly do), they'll need a hot start.  The more big games, the better, in that regard.  It is not the same as launching two big games at the same time in the middle of the generation.  In that case, they would compete with each other a bit (which happens all the time anyway).  In this case, they would move consoles, which moves software throughout the rest of the generation.

In any case, Halo and Motorsport may be the way they go.  I'm just sayin, they better launch with more than a 82 metacritic Halo, and a couple of AA games.

I've been an XB-first gamer since the first XB.  But, after seeing the massive gulf open up between PS and XB in terms of great AAA exclusives, even I may go with PS first next generation.  But, an awesome Halo at launch would likely keep me XB-first.  Add to that an awesome Horizon release, and it would be a no-brainer for me.  I'm certainly not the only gamer thinking this way.

(By XB-first, I mean that I buy an XB at the start of the generation, and (usually) pick up a PS later in the generation.  That means most of my software purchases throughout the generation go to XB.   This is due to my loyalty to Halo.  But, Halo needs to get back to leading the pack in FPSs if XB is going to get me to wait a couple years to play the awesome PS exclusives.  And, though it doesn't really apply here, I always buy Nintendo systems once there are a few exclusives that I want, regardless of where I am with XB and PS.)

Do we know that? VGC isn't that accurate for games these days, but it lists recent Forza and GT installments as selling similarly (to wildly different userbase sizes as well).

Wikipedia lists GT6 (2013) as selling less than half what GT5 (2010) did, and GT Sport as selling 3.3m (though at a year old, this could yet sell more). VGC puts FM3 at around that, not including digital. And we were recently told that FM3 has nearly 10 million players - if even half those bought a copy of the game it'd be ahead of the most recent GT release, and in line with the most recent headline GT release. And all that, again, on a much smaller userbase.

I agree that this probably wasn't the thread for the comparison, but I do think its interesting that the once undisputed leadership or racing is now very much up for grabs!

Until something changes, I'd peg GT as the bigger franchise either way. But really, the comparison was needless, so there really isn't any need to even elaborate any further on it (and Wiki is the worst source for sales data, btw :P).

I'm going to play devils's advocate for a moment and say that Forza deserves credit for closing a gap that used to be hilariously out of balance. It seems bigger to me now TBH.

It is ridiculous how fun the game is. I want to keep on playing forzathons, doing challenges etc....kind of addicted to it ^^'.

I just hit 22 and opened up the full game. Seems there are some amazing events and community type challenges going on. Easily the best arcade racer I’ve played since Burnout Takedown on the OG Xbox.

Im loving the game. Best racing game ever!
