Can I get more of a description of how greedy they are? I honestly just want to hear what people think makes them greedy. I'm...not the most financially endowed individual but I can afford most of what I want from them and don't feel cheated.

Those Joycons are expensive. Very expensive.

Well, the technology in the Joycons isn't cheap at the moment. They overstuffed it with technology. Some of it, to be honest could be done away with like HD Rumble. I don't find this feature all that great. There's gyros, NFC, and HD rumble in it. The parts that make up the joycons, many tech enthusiasts say that they really can't be built any cheaper currently. And they're really like 2 controllers for $80.

I wouldn't necessarily equate greed to a need to maintain some kind of profit margin. The Joycons themselves actually cost $90 to manufacture as of 2017;

https://nintendotoday.com/teardown-firm-joy-con-controllers-cost-nintendo-90-to-manufacture/

I think the only thing they could do regarding the Joycons is take out NFC, HD Rumble in a budget SKU.

Now the Dock...that's greed on a whole new level considering what's actually in the thing.

You can argue about a lackluster Online service. But I'd say Nintendo's far from Anti-consumer. They do some anti-consumer things, but so does every corporation. There are companies far worse than Nintendo out there.

I've had a change of heart. I agree 100% with OP.

I always save on the cloud and never save on my system? Why? Because I want to preserve that precious 200 MB of space for games! Why, by saving to the cloud I could save 5% of my Switch's harddrive space! But Nintendo locks that behind a greedy $1.66 monthly paywall, and then deletes your save files if you don't continue to pony up! I could invest that money into stocks and bonds, so in 20 years I'd have $700, but nooooo. I gotta give it to Nintendo! Those fucking Robber Barrons!

I'm more than happy to shell out $60 a month for XBL services so I can play Fortnite, and PUBG, but why would I do that on Switch? Fortnite is except from Nintendo's Online Service so I can just keep playing that. Nintendo doesn't have any good FPS games anyway! Sure, there's Splatoon with its revolutionary methods of zone control, movement, and gyro aiming, but I can't play that because it looks like a kids' game! I want to play as an Office Worker wearing a welding helmet that blocks 99% of my vision, not as a Squidkid!

Also, all games prior to 2010 are trash! Except of course counterstrike, but that's only because of mods. So Nintendo can have their NES titles, with new features and whatnot. Might as well offer up Atari games, while they're at it! There's no difference between the two anyway.

Switch lacks the ability to share zip files, photos, word docs, tax forms, legal documents, and browse the internet with Edge! I mean EDGE! Firefox and Chrome are just so much worse and slower! Why doesn't Nintendo get with the times and add these features? I mean, I never play actual videogames on my consoles anyway! I do tax work, and pay $2.99 to rent a movie that was made decades ago. Well anyway, that's why I'm selling my Switch and getting an XB1!

P.S. SONY DOESN"T FUCKING ALLOW CROSSPLAY! THAT"S UTTER FUCKING BS!!!

Horrible company is a bit harsh I think. They have been very greedy this gen though.

They have been greed and making anti consumer choices ever since they started.

They started the exclusive agreement with restriction to the companies to freely produce games they developed to NES to other systems for a long time.

They started the milking of games as soon as they had their second system to do it.

They tried to make Sony's work their own and thank goodness Sony got away and proved someone could offer us a lot more.

Nintendo started locking game content behind physical toys, they undership their products on purpose to be able to keep them at a higher price, they want to take down people who love their games and want to make money with their work on the internet (youtube), they want you to buy cardboard for the price of an AAA game just to profit big so you can easily break it and have to buy more, they charge you ridiculous high for a tiny controller that needs to be used on par to be decent, or for a HDMI+USB connection because it's on a "dock".

This recent controversy is nothing really new.

Nintendo has always been that way, all they want is more and more of your money, and that's on you.

But they also have a good bunch of great games here and there.

Still not a cause to call them horrible imo. Every company does anti consumer things from time to time. Nintendo has just been around longer.

Some of these are fair. But most of it is false and complete bullshit.

* They do not under-ship products on purpose just to keep them at higher prices. It's already proven that artificial scarcity is bullshit.

* Amiibo is also a tool, its up to developers on how they want to use it. Nintendo also hasn't done much bad uses of amiibo on Switch at all recently.

*Also you have the Sony fallout all wrong. It was Sony who wanted to control what goes on the SNES CD, and Nintendo refused. The deal was shady on both sides, and Sony was not an innocent victim.

* Labo's actually well built, as very few people reported breaking. Plus you don't need to buy more if it does break, just grab some tape. And for what you're getting, $70 is a fair price

* Same with the Joy-Con arguably. 2 advanced controllers you can use with another player isn't terrible for $80, regardless of what you think of its size.

Most of what you said is complete nonsense.

Umm...no.

Sony and Nintendo both were greedy in the Nintendo Playstation deal. Sony wanted to claim licensing fees for all games on the Nintendo Playstation. That would also mean Nintendo's own software when the deal was only supposed to be hardware related. No other company wanted to do this with hardware deals like Sega and JVC with the X Eye. Nintendo also was greedy and back handed with licensing fees back then. So you have 2 negatives that obviously tore the deal apart. So yes, Nintendo wanted CD Technology of their own but Sony wanted to claim licensing fees for software they didn't own. It was never meant to be and it worked out the best for both of them. Let's be honest here.

I agree with about 50% of this post. Splatoon does look like a stupid baby game. But why do you call it revolutionary? Was that sarcasm?

It seems putting a tantrum to get attention has been popular lately.

That's the unfortunate reality of being a Smash fan.

Nintendo. Anti-Consumer. These are two words that most customers would believe to be mutually exclusive. But they aren't. In fact, they are mutually inclusive. While Nintendo has made many of our favorite childhood memories with games like The Legend of Zelda, Kirby's Pinball, and Mario Tennis Aces, that doesn't excuse the problems with the way they treat their loyal fanbase. Loyalty, respect, and fair trade is all I ask out of a mega corporation. Why is that so hard?

Nintendo's online service is being launched the day after tomorrow. People have already pointed out the flaws in it, from infrastructure to basic features. But I feel these need to be reiterated, as much as possible, so they get the point.

Deleting my cloud saves after I have unsubscribed? Why Nintendo??? Sure, Sony does the same thing, deleting them after a whole 6 months, and Nintendo offers a grace period as well. We don't know how long it will last for Nintendo, but we know it will be worse than Sony's grace period. Why? Because it's Nintendo. When have they ever been less anti-consumer than Sony?

Online gameplay? Locked behind a subscription service? But it used to be free. Free! I wasn't even aware of this until they sent me the email a few months ago. Why wasn't I notified sooner? All my friends were super confused too. I told them that it's just like the Playstation Plus service but they replied that the Switch doesn't have Destiny. Thanks Nintendo.

NES games? Who cares? I've literally never played a game from before 2005. Why would I? Why would I play online multiplayer on an NES game? Do NES games even have online multiplayer? I never saw that mentioned in any AngryVideoGameNerd videos.

People have mentioned that the service could become better. Could become is not good enough. Nintendo has had two years to figure this out. When has an online service ever gotten better after it launched? Remember Playstation 3. When did that get better? Oh right, it didn't. Thought so.

That is why I'm selling my Switch. It sucks because I am such a big fan of Smash brothers. I really wanted to play it. But the Switch doesn't even have good online. Or Netflix. Or Hulu. I'm going to sell my Switch and buy a 4k TV for my machine the PS4 pro.

But it's not too late. With the power of the internet, we can make change. Even the suits might listen to us.

That's why I'm asking you to sign my petition:

and this one too would be helpful thanks:

LMAO, at least they are cool with crossplay
