It's really great so far. The webslinging feels fast and responsive. The combat is fast and fluid. I love this version of Peter Parker. There's also just a bunch of charm and effort that's gone into the game. Insomniac really loves this character and it shows through all the extra stuff they put into the game. As a Spider-Man fan, I'm really pleased.

Early impressions (about 4 hours on PS4 Pro)

Graphically impressive. Colors really pop! Animation is fluid and smooth. Controls are great though they throw a lot at you at first. Music is great. Makes you feel like a superhero as it swells to a crescendo. Lots of fun little details, too. Peter is mostly charming even though he won't ever stop talking.

What I dislike:
Too much of that "Pipe Dream" knockoff mini game.
Goddam crime happens every few seconds. You barely take care of one crime before another comes over the police scanner. I guess you can ignore them but I can't. It's worse than Niko Bellic's cousin in GTA4!

Not quite loving it like an Arkham game but I'm just getting warmed up. I expect great things as the story progresses.

I like to kind of roleplay in those scenarios. I think if the next mission I'm going to is urgent then I'll leave the crime and just think to myself that I'll let the police handle that one.

If I'm trying to get crime badges or just doing activities then I'll deal with most crime I see. But as far as I'm concerned all the crime gets dealt with it's just whether I do it or not.

LOL I read that as "good" and I saw the pic and had to stop for a second ... lol

I was frustrated when i started the game, struggling with controls my muscle memory kept pushing me towards Arkham games.. but as soon as i learned the controls I got better with swinging and combat controls, and the game just exploded, now chasing those pigeons is so much fun.. freaking amazing! 20% story completed, amazing story moment, the only thing I hate is some Mary Jane moments and weird cinematic cuts but those are just nitpicking.

They copy and paste a couple of JPEGs for the interior shots. The tables and the beds that are supposed to be inside the window look like they're glued to the wall. It's really funny.

After upgrading the point jump and a few other web swinging abilities the webswinging is excellent. I'm no longer finding myself clumsily landing on a rooftop or wallrunning, and then losing momentum.

At first I didn't understand how to finish enemies by webbing them up for the cops. Now I get it though. If an enemy is stumbling from an attack or airborne, and if said enemy is near a wall they can be webbed to the wall. If an enemy is knocked down they can be webbed to the floor. Finally, you can just grab and swing webbed up enemies into a wall to glue them to the all. Webbing enemies for the cops to pick up builds super meter, or combos, and is just fun as hell.

I'm loving all the little gadgets that you can equip. Impact webbing is the best, since it quickly takes out enemies, and is really useful for stealth. Speaking of stealth...

Finally realized all the different ways to take an enemy down in stealth. Spidey can't wait around corners ala Splinter Cell/Batman, but he can do takedowns while crawling under the side of a building, web hanging, and perched on a rooftop.

Clicking R3 shows you bonus mission objectives, but one of them is just ridiculous, and not fun to attempt. That is trying to do 10 instances of swinging from your webs, and kicking the enemies. It's just not worth it, and gets in the way of combat too much. Otherwise bonus objectives are fun.

I really like how Insomniac did their own take on the Spider-Man universe. It's just so refreshing to not be bogged down by decades of lore. I love that this game's Peter Parker sounds and acts so much like the Peter Parker from the 90's TV show. IMO the Tom Holland, and Andrew Garfield versions of the character are not Spider-Man. Insomniac's version makes the current movie versions of Spider-Man look like amateur filmmaking.

Day time looks great. Night time is super bad. Its like Watch Dogs level imo. Other than that the game has been pretty damn fun.
