Than games like Sunset Overdrive wouldnt exist.. is that what you want?

So, you're against manufacturer acquisitions?

Aslong as its not Blizzard or Nintendo i couldnt care. I am just stating to the OP that sometimes being good and independent is fine, if the dev is struggling or poor than acquiring is fine in my opinion. All depends on the situation. In this case Insomniac are fine the way they are.. Remedy on the other hand..

I don't want Insomniac to shutter after just one misstep or dud, so no thanks.

I assume you're saying that's what happens with studios under Sony. Couldn't be further from the truth. Evolution Studios and Zipper Interactive had several duds before the teams were disbanded, for example. And, that's not 100% a fault of Sony's. Those teams weren't pulling their weight, and in this business, that's money you're costing your employer. No one knows what went on behind closed doors, but it's obvious that they had many more problems than any of Sony's other teams.

The Motorstorm Series weren't duds. They were great games. Yes, Driveclub's launch was botched, but that was it. By the end of 2016 the game was an awesome racing game. That's not more than one dud.

Lets look at Geurilla Cambridge. They came off what people say is the most console-like experience on Vita (Killzone Mercenary). It's not their fault that the Vita failed. RIGS mechanized combat league also has a 78 on metacritic. Not their fault Sony made them work on PSVR game, either.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

No they shouldn't.its better to create a entirely new studio filled with new talent which will bring some fresh new IP.

bro. you should look at the job opening at SIE or any studio. you can't build a studio from scratch. unless its a small studio like pixel opus or northwest. very small

The Motorstorm games were good, but the sequels saw financial woes (particularly the third one). DRIVECLUB sealed the deal. By the end of 2016, yes it was great, but too late. As for Cambridge, that's tricky, but we have no idea what may have gone down. To say that you wouldn't want Insomniac to be closed after one dud, insinuating that's all that Sony does (based on nothing but speculations), reveals a serious flaw in such thinking. When it becomes a documented, significant pattern, then we can go into 'Panic Mode'.

Two things:

1) The launch was cancelled in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand due to their being natural disasters occurring there at that time.

2) It was launched smack dab in the middle of the PSN 2011 outage

How is evolution to fault for any of this?

I don't know (and neither do you). So, the narrative you're running with is flimsy. Let's say it was one studio closed after a dud. If it is the exception, why treat like it like the rule?

Sure. Because there was even a studio that was closed after ZERO duds. Sony liverpool had an amazing track record with Wipeout, but they were closed out of nowhere.

Socom 4 from Zipper was not as good as it's predecessors, but the killing blow was PSN outage, again. For a game that multiplayer played a key part in, it never had a chance, even if it was good. Then after Sony made them work on a Vita game, and guess who's fault the failure of the vita was...

They obviously weren't closed for no reason (second time I'm hearing this). They don't have a record of closing studio(s) like that and there's no reason to just assume it here. So, take it as a bottom line that it was something you shouldn't have said. I can understand wanting Insomniac to remain independent, otherwise.

That article is full of the usual PR fluff. I couldn't find any good reason, just....

"However, it was felt that by focusing our investment plans on other Studios that are currently working on exciting new projects, we would be in a stronger position to offer the best possible content for our consumers."

The usual PR when Sony/Microsoft/EA/Activision close a studio.

No, they should stay independent, Insomniac is doing fine without being under the corporate umbrella of sony or any other publisher.

Insomniac + From Software + Bluepoint + Quantic Dream.
Dem games

From Software? Lol. No.

I hope sony doesn't get QD. we need a different type of game studios. platformers or shooters. or other genres.
we already got the movie games from ND
