And how does that work when you want to play an xbox 360 kinect game? Or to play those games that the publishers will never allow? Or after all these years hasn't gotten around to?

Lets have a race. I'll go grab my Xbox 360 out of the closest and insert Tales of Vesperia. You insert it into your xbox one. Lets see which one gets to play it first?

Although you may have a lead. I'd have to first find batteries for my xbox 360. I have to take them out so they don't explode and leave gunk all over like last time.

I'd choose another game but every game (but one) I can play on my xbox 360 can't be played on XB1. So I'd have to go look for a list of Xbox 360 games. Then cross check it against a list of what games have been released.  That is just a lot of extra time.

Now if it was like the wii U BC - I'd agree. I can put any wii game in my wii U and immediately play it.  But then again who is saying the wii U is the best console because it can play all wii games? Along with a VC of many, many games. No one serious..

As if I ever claimed you can play tales of vesperia on the Xbox one. Nor did I ever claim that you can play your ENTIRE 360 library on One. 

Nor did I say that Xbox is the best console. Nor did I say BC is the sole factor that makes a console great.

Dont really get the point of this post.

And kinect games? Really? Kinect is suddenly the most important thing to you now, when motion control has been dead for years? gimme a break.

Ridiculous logic. Who buys a system to play last gen games on 4 years in?

I agree with the classic ones, but coming with a by the numbers comparison that includes last gen games backwards compatibility to say you have more to play than the competition, is farfetched at best. Yes, if you want to play the same games again, and ignore all the amazing exclusives the competition has, you "got more to play"! Enjoy!

I'm really disappointed with the XB1. Bought it when Gears 4 came out and have played like 4 games on it. I have several more, but I just don't feel like booting it up. The BC is cool and all, but I haven't tried it yet.

This article is kind of weird. The title claims the Xbox One is the best console if you exclude exclusives, but they makes points to go against it?

The feature is indeed quite nice, but personally I wouldn't say it makes the console the best of the generation. I also find it strange how this article pushes so strongly on the importance of BC when it's been a reoccurring feature since the early days. Sure, they may not have graphical enhancements, but it's hardly anything new, and I don't think those were pushed as such strong selling points back then.

My first two are valid points, also.  They may not be things that you personally care about, but they are valid.  Just like, the point you make is valid even though I personally don't care about performance issues like 20FPS or "old" graphics.  Importance is in the eye of the beholder.  I realize performance and graphics are really important to people, but they just aren't important to me.

To me, the only reason I play PC games is because of exclusives.  If a game is available on PC or a console I have, then I will choose the console every time.  Although PC does basically have infinite backwards compatibility (especially with sites like gog.com), so that means PC does have a huge amount of exclusives.  Still the advantages of consoles are pretty significant, since most people choose to play on consoles over PC.

Are you sure? There are over 200 million active Steam accounts (SteamSpy's last ewstimate was 290 million) with a total playtime of 1.5 million years.
