There are huge quality gaps.

PC is largely in the same boat though.

Warhammer II
Civ VI Strategy
Hearts of Iron IV
Endless Legend
Endless Space II
Galactic Civilizations III
Age of Wonders III

All of them a single genre to boot. So if you don't happen to be a  massive fan of strategy games, PC won't offer much in way of modern exclusives.

And you forgot about Tearaway, Yakuza 0, DQ Builders, Disgaea 5, Moss, Hatsune Miku, etc on the PS4 side. Spiderman, LoU2 are coming. Yakuza remakes are such a massive leap over the original games that you shouldn't count them as remakes at all. Everything from the graphics to the gameplay was 100% overhauled for Kiwami and Kiwami 2.

And finally, P5 is still somewhat exclusive, to a degree. XB1 fans certainly can't play it. Those with weak PCs can't play it.

Why are you including PC, in a topic that's talking specifically about PS4 and X1?.

You also missed out upcoming exclusives like Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries, Battletech, Anno 1800, Dauntless, Quake Champions, Underworld Ascendant, Griftlands, Long gone days, Hunt Showdown etc.

The games I listed aren't all from a single genre either.

Black Mesa (fan made Half-Life remake, full game is sold on Steam),
Star Citizen,
Artifact (Valve's new game, though a mobile port will come next year),
Witchfire (no console version announced),
Dauntless,
Wild West Online,
Unreal Tournament,
Escape from Tarkov,
Ascent: Infinite Realm,
Ion Maiden,
Dual Universe (built on the Unigine engine),
Phoenix Point,
Phantom Brigade,
GTFO,
Mavericks: Proving Grounds

This isn't even touching on PC VR titles, like VRChat.
I am missing plenty of really good games, outside of VR too.
There are loads of games: good games, on PC.
People here may never hear about them: we all live in our own bubbles.

Ideally all games would come to all systems.
Artificial exclusivity isn't something we should be supporting as consumers.
Obviously God of War 4 cannot physically run on the Switch without harming the developer's artistic vision, but it can run on the XOne.
Another case would be Star Citizen: even if you could get that to run on a PS4, the end result wouldn't be something worth selling to a consumer.

Hopefully all the games I have listed, do make their way to each and every system that can comfortably run them.

Edit: also relating to the quantity of quality of games (going by meta).
Games have longer development cycles now, and are generally more complex (or just have more assets in them).

I'd feel that way if it happened more often on both sides, but it seems to only happen on one side for really old games, while not the same for new ones.

Like I said in another thread, PC doesn't have that kind of power to lock down a game via money or via company ownership.

Already made a post but honestly someone could have made this post for the ultimate logic.

"Switch exclusive titles aren't that impressive"

"Games above 80 MC lets say, only on Switch, aren't remasters or remakes. What do we have?"

Switch:

Super Mario Odyssey
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Fast RMX

Wii U:
Super Mario 3D World
Smash Bros Wii U (maybe)
Bayonetta 2
Mario Kart 8
Pikmin 3
Xenoblade Chronicles X
New Super Mario Bros U
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Art Academy Home Studio
Splatoon
Fast Racing Neo
Affordable Space Adventures
Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE
Pushmo World

I may have missed a few games but so did OP, and mind you the Switch has already outsold the Wii U while the PS4 hasn't even outsold the PS3 yet. Looks like a complete blow out Wii U wins easy*

*Disclaimer: Exaggeration

PCs don't really need the ability to artificially create exclusive titles.
If you want to build something that does interesting things, you kind of need to build it for PCs anyway.

Valve's outward viewpoint on exclusives isn't positive, in their favor of them.
Meaning Valve doesn't like the general idea of the practice.
Valve also apparently strongly dislikes working in closed environments (consoles and mobile phones).

If you want, I can find some quotes in a bit.
Gabe seems to be very passionate about this topic.

Which is why we see watered down versions being released, so the part of needing to build a rig for it eventually becomes redundant.

Valve isn't exactly positive about them, yet their own titles are exclusive to Steam. You can play them on other OS's for example, but only if you're using Steam, so they are half and half with and against exclusivity.

Most of their games have come to other platforms.
Artifact, their upcoming game will be coming to Android and iOS.
CS:GO, Portal 2, and The Orange Box (TF2, Portal, HL2, HL2 Episode 1, and HL2 Episode 2) came to both the PS3 and X360 (other games came to other systems too).

Valve hasn't done a very good job at keeping console versions up to date.
Blaming, or at the very least voicing frustration at the friction with updates in closed ecosystems (directed at Google and/or Apple, and the Steam app).
I don't think it it too much of a stretch to extend that to console ecosystems, given that was what the question was about.

I cannot find Gabe's closed ecosystem rant right now.

Again, we've had L4D, TF2 and the portal series going to other systems, that was basically in their general plan for release. What they haven't done is release those games to GoG and the other clients, so they do keep a half form of exclusivity, despite them voicing their disliking of it.

Now remove all the games with a number at the end of the title. Sequels. Not much in AAA original thinking left these days...
