SEGA Ages could expand with Saturn and Dreamcast games in the future

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - SEGA Ages could expand with Saturn and Dreamcast games in the future

SEGA Ages kicked off the weekend with a new announcement for Switch owners. Starting this summer, SEGA and M2 will be publishing classic games on the eShop. Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Thunder Force IV, Alex Kidd, and Gain Ground are among the confirmed titles. During a stage show at SEGA Fes, more details about the download initiative were shared.

Once the last wave of 3D Classics on 3DS wrapped up, it was decided that it would be a waste to just leave it there. That’s what initially led to SEGA and M2 once again partnering on classic games for Switch.

Alex Kidd is included in the lineup due to the game’s popularity on the Virtual Console in Europe. Future releases could be decided by using similar data.

You might have noticed that Gain Ground is an arcade game. This won’t be the only arcade title in SEGA Ages.

Once again, the initial plan is to produce roughly 15 titles under the SEGA Ages line. However, the lineup could be expanded with even more games. One very important point mentioned is that Saturn and Dreamcast titles could be represented in the future if it goes well beyond the first 15 games.

Finally, one last tidbit: Rieko Kodama is acting as producer on the SEGA Ages project. Kodama has worked at SEGA since 1984 and has acted as an artist, director, and producer.

What Saturn/Dreamcast games would you like to see come to the Nintendo Switch?

I hope they bring Saturn and Dreamcast games. Sega does not release them enough compared to their Genesis lineup. Also, some Saturn games are rare so having them on Switch will be very helpful.

NiGHTS and Crazy Taxi and I'm all set.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Do Panzer Dragoon Saga already - drop the price of the original release down down down!

Jet Set Radio, please!

Oh, and Sonic Adventure 1+2! And Panzer Dragoon! And Space Channel 5!

Crazy Taxi is a bit difficult because of the soundtrack and restaurant brands, I don't see that staying intact.

Shining Force III...please?

Same here, and I also hope they bring Virtual On Cyber Troopers into Sega Ages. :D

Some days I just blow up.

Saturn has some great RPGs like Shining Force III and Dragon Force that would be great on the Switch, and with PS4 / X1 getting HD remasters of Shenmue 1+2 it would be nice if the Switch got the originals if the remasters don't make their way onto the console.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Give me Sonic Adventure 1 + 2 on the Switch and I'm happy! Really want to play those games on a portable platform.
