Forums - Politics Discussion - Can the Rape Culture in the West be Reduced with Guns?

Rape culture is something in India. Not in the West. People who complain about things like this in the West clearly have no idea what's happening in the rest of the world.

Like people complaining that Europe is racist and sexist... I've lived in Japan for a year now, and I can assure you that European people have now idea what a racist and sexist society can be (and I'm sure other countries are worse that Japan).

Because it's worse in other places doesn't mean that there aren't issues here. I don't understand why people would just want to ignore the problems here instead of tackling them merely because it is more severe elsewhere.

I'm not complaining about people saying there are issues, I'm complaining about the words used.

There is a difference between saying "There are rapes in the West" and "There is a rape culture in the West". Rapes are not part of the culture, in Europe anyway. It's something rather rare and serious, never accepted as normal. It's like saying "We have a murder culture" or "a pedophilia culture". Having crimes in a society doesn't mean that it's part of the culture.

EDIT: And it's the same thing for racism and sexism. Obviously there are racist and sexist people in France, but it's not actually an accepted and official part of the society like other countries. So people saying that French society is racist and sexist are wrong: exceptions, even loud and easily seen in the media, are not the norm.

Didn't realize that India is the west now. Let me be the first to welcome them with open arms and a gun in my pocket.

That said, guns have never solved any social issues. In fact, guns tend to create a lot more problems than the ones they pretend to fix.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I didn't really think there was a rape culture in the US. But I'm up for learning more on the subject.

Edit: Or the west in general

Guns won't stop the problem, senzu beans could though.

Rape culture, victim culture, drug culture. health culture, fat culture, cat culture. Goodness, we live in so many cultures all at the same time. I hope people keep adding more in order to make problems look grandiose and all-encompassing.

That's what rape culture actually looks like. Rape is a crime here that gets punished. Not a sentence used to rape another. Massive difference. India, Pakistan...... Aren't Western countries.

The US already has guns... and still has plenty of rapes, so clearly the answer is no.

Statistically, how many people that get raped own a gun or had it with them?

A lot of people who get raped may not even be old enough to have a gun.

If I were to look at the west, and then look at the middle east... I'd say rape culture doesn't exist in the west. We should focus on the more series issue of what is happening the middle east towards women, and children. The west is like a Disney show compared to them.

That would be some odd multiculturealism. Gangs of pharmaceutical  addicted druggies raping people in fat, cat furry suits.

Academy Awards winner scenario right here!

Just another media beat up to create fear within society. Terrible reporting that only gives one side of a story. The media try to make Western society to be worse than an impoverished third world nation run by a tin pot dictator.
