Can the government increase the prices of guns? Make it ridiculous high so less people can buy them and maybe the us government can buyback guns as well. These can reduce the number of shootings.

It's part of the bill of rights.

Could you educate the poster on what the bill of rights states?

The bill of rights are the first few amendments in the US constitution and they are for many the most important Amendments. The second Amendment is in the bill of rights and gives people the right to own guns. The government's job is to protect and make sure the constitution and especially the bill of rights is enforced. But there have been amendments that were "repealed" by creating a new amendment that makes the old one null so in order to get rid of the second amendment you would need the approval of 2/3 of Congress and 38 states. Most politicians even democrats aren't really opposed to the second Amendment since it's in the Constitution but would like stricter gun laws instead. And there are also many who like guns laws the way they are now. Because of this it's very close to impossible to get rid of the second Amendment with the current political climate.

Might be wrong but I don't think the government has the power to tell business how much they have to price their products so probably not.

Aha...I knew there was an important part of that amendment that needed to be stated.  Thanks for helping our foreign brothers and sisters understand the language that is used to allow hobbysists and enthusiasts the opportunity to possess weapons of warfare.

Yeah... it's not as if you could change the laws of a country to forbid people from owning "weapons of warfare". It's not like any other country has done exactly that before. Oh, wait...

That won't get rid of the massive black market of guns in the US, you know the main way most criminals acquire their firearms here in the states?

My pleasure.  And no criminal/robber/thief will ever threaten/steal/extort from fucking Nighthawk117 and his family.

Maybe that should be a clause added to the 2nd amendment the next time the Constitution gets changed...um, amended to better reflect the modern times in which we live.  While we're at it maybe we could also be a bit more specific about what kinds of firearms should be allowed, what their rate of fire should be, the number of bullets available in its clip, and also that each person attempting to participate in this not so well-regulated militia at least be given the proper pysch evaluation to know that he or she only intends to use said weapon in defense (and the occasional target practice/hunting, of course).

Good luck with that dream...."According to the Congressional Research Service, there are roughly twice as many guns per capita in the United States as there were in 1968: more than 300 million guns in all."

There is no need to fall onto the greatest extreme of removing all guns. It is logistically impractical and politically impossible. Focus on more realistic goals which could actually have a strong positive impact. All the hyperbolic reactions do is gridlock debate...

Wtf 300 million guns. That's like 1 per person. So much for guns buyback

Super, the 2nd Amendment has never been changed or altered in our history.  So, why should we change it now?

That's the dilemma.

By the way, in what country do you live?

They do have the power to decide how much tax is levied on a product though don't they? A 10000% tax on guns would certainly shoot their price up!

Yes but the thing is there is still a large number of Americans that are pro gun and I don't think it's a good idea for the government to fuck them over. I think there should be a middle ground that benefits both sides.
