Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction: God of War PS4 will sell 10M+

I am a God of War fan, and I think this might sell between 4M-6M. It does not have the excitement factor of GOWIII because, that game was the climax of the story, of the boss fights and the gameplay. This "GOWIV" is a new beginning, and even though it looks really great, they have changed lots of stuff from the original franchise while trying to retain the core elements of it. So this game needs to prove itself. If it is great game, that gets great reviews, it could move 6M because lots of fans from the franchise will play it because of all the positive buzz surrounding it.

10M+ is a bit crazy, it would be required to be rated 9.5/10 from most sites in order to eventually reach those numbers. Even UC4 having those reviews was able to reach 10M because it was the climax of the franchise, I really doubt the GOW will be able to sell that much, even though I would like that to happen.

Ah okay, I think it would have been hammered for being 11 hour long with no multiplayer.

If it was a good 11 hours with lots to do and a robust story, probably not.

I still believe it would. People would rather have a grindfest 100 hour campaign than a well crafted 11 hour game. When buying people look at the hours they expect to spend with that game as quality is way too subjective. Look at the market now and tell me if these massive lengthy games aren't selling more than shorter games with some exceptions here and there.

The narrative and the storytelling, then, if the gameplay being compared bothers you.

You know, one is about fungus zombies and the other is about killing gods.  You need something a little bit more concrete than saying they are similar because they are games, by Sony, with people in them, interacting.

If you can't see "walky-talky feels" narrative this GoW and LoU share, sorry to be the one to tell you mate, but you're legally blind.

GoW will be 25-35 hours so yeah even the best of the best have to follow mainstream trends.

Eh, God of War has always been praised for the entirety of the package. It wouldn't be hammered if it had been more of the same, but Santa Monica wanted more.

That was till last gen. Gamers expect different things from games this gen. You rarely see those 5 to 15 hour games being success stories and most games have open world or multiplayer that can keep you playing for a long time. Sure some reviewers might praise it but the people would just look at its length and be like "nah, not $60 for this when I can buy Skyrim again on PS4 with another 50 hours of repetitive quests!" Yeah it sounds one note but that's what most gamers are like.

Naughty Dog are the exceptions to that rule but Santa Monica doesn't have the same reputation and God of War the same kind of appeal and no multiplayer even as an afterthought.

Will sell a little better than horizon so 8m max

Nothing suggests that a typical God of War wouldn't have done the trick. Regardless of Naughty Dog, Skyrim, or what have you. But hey, feel free to believe otherwise. No one really knows.

This could go on but I'll shorten it yes it does. There's a reason EA was quoted saying linear single player games don't sell. With some exceptions they really don't. This is VGC, look it up yourself.

With digital, yes. But I don't think we'll know if it ever sell that much. We don't have the real LTD number for UC4 or any big PS4 Sony games, do we ?
