What kills me the most are those who are well off and yet don't appreciate how lucky they got it yet still bitch and moan and unwilling to help.

Many people that seem to be well off can still be depressed, they don´t always moan and bitch about their troubles and may even appreciate how lucky they are and still be depressed. Depression isn´t simple.

It isn´t just so that you have troubles, a shitty life and bad stuff happens -> you become depressed

or you are generally doing well, have money and loved ones and succeed in most things -> you don´t become depressed

It doesn´t work like that. Lives and people are too complex for it to be that simple. And whining and bitching is not the same as being depressed. Many people bitch and complain just for the sake of it or for some other reason and are definetely not depressed.

Also things like stress, hormonal imbalance, illness etc. can cause depression.

Two general tips to combat depression. Exercise helps because it reduces anxiety, improves mood and decreases depression. Also try to limit your Facebook use. Some studies have shown using social media too much causes depression.

Not only social media...smart phone use does as well, as well as too much gaming. Better try real talks with people and being creative, make something with your hands. Stuff we were made to do. Don't text your friends...call them instead! Makes a world of a difference.

I don't have any friends in real life, though And it's very hard for me to make them since I'm quiet and tend to prefer doing activities on my own.

Man, my obsession with death is not healthy at all. I assume that constantly thinking of dying probably has a negative effect on the brain

It's a fairly common thing to dwell on. Of course, one can think about it too much. I used to think about it more in my 20's for some reason. I would think about my mortality, that of my family, strangers, some poor sap from the past who was eaten alive by a lion, the whole human race being wiped out by a comet. All the hits and then some.

Nah, it's more thinking about death rather than actually witnessing death.

Ahh. Me too. But I did have a little trip into that subreddit. It was not fun.

Sometimes remembering my own mortality kind of ... snaps ... me out of my depression. But when I think long enough for it to almost happen i push the thought aside.

I was actually close to dying several times already. I’m done with that shit. (No, not suicidal...different reasons.) Life is too precious to just waste it like that.

Try talking to other people that also seem quiet or shy. Doing things alone might be what you are just used to not what you really prefer, of course it depends on the activity, but many things are fun to do with friends. For example talking ;D

And as we all die, we don´t have at least worry about not dying :D so try new things and make your life what you want it to be, don´t think too much about what kind of person you are, but instead what kind of person you want to be. Don´t let others limit you by saying what you are capable of and don´t let others define you.
