Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One X Shadow of War shows profound improvements over PS4 Pro

I find it hilarious that anyone would care about those differences. I mean as a developer/artist working on the game sure they should be proud. But as a gamer...who cares?! They both have advanced graphics, one has a little bit more detailed graphics. Won't affect gameplay at all.

Have you not heard about this or what?

Sure, you can not worry about the lootboxes and grind for hundreads of hours instead.

Of course! I love my ""choice" there.

I prefer not to buy it, than to subject myself to torture willingly. Thank you very much.

The first game you had to grind to many hours. Also it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Mordor is around 23 hours to beat the story and extras https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=18006 .

Shadow of War is 35 hours to beat the game and extras. https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=44022

You can play the game  without lootboxes and without hundreds of hours of grinding.

True but that's not why people are making a fuss over loot boxes. Ya ever hear of that saying "give an inch and they'll take a mile"? People want to stop it before it gets worse.

Here's where activsion is playing around with matchmaking algorithms that pit noob players against experienced players with the goal of them hopefully buying in-game items with money.

"For instance, the microtransaction engine may match a more expert/marquee player with a junior player to encourage the junior player to make game-related purchases of items possessed/used by the marquee player. A junior player may wish to emulate the marquee player by obtaining weapons or other items used by the marquee player.”

The system looks at players’ profiles to determine their specific playstyles. One example given by the patent is that a player who has shown a proclivity towards sniper rifles will be paired with a player who is proficient with this type of weapon. The novice player may then be influenced to purchase the sniper rifle (and gear) used by the expert player. After this purchase, the player would then be placed in a match where sniper rifles are advantageous, thus encouraging future purchases."

It's just better to nip this kind of shit in the butt instead of ignoring this kind of crap til it's too imbedded into the games to reverse it. As soon as they push for an itch, raise some hell.

Very noticable improvement, to me it seems like a huge step, deff the ps4 base model is still beter then the xbox one base model, will never change but the xbox one x sure is a bigger leap for people wanting the best settings.

Obviously its not for everyone but the extra 4gb of faster memory is going to make comparisons like this happen until the ps5 arrives in 2019-2020, which is a big step in changing the opinion of the xbox brand as being the weaker console, which they desperately need to change

I wish they would make a game that actually uses the power rather than just showboating old titles nobody cares about anymore, "hey everyone, it turns out having more ram allows you to use high resolution textures!!"

Has anyone bothered to give Microsoft a nudge and tell them that it wasn't, and never has been the lack of power thats been hurting their sales? and releasing such a hefty console so far into the gen is only going to hurt them in the future, PS5 drops and it's a significant improvement over PS4/Pro, the next xbox drops and it's only a minor improvement over the Xbox one X, who is going to get the sales?, that leaves Microsoft in the awkward position where they either go all out again for a bigger jump, then get stung on unit price, or grin and bear it and release something only moderately better, at which point people arent going to see the value in upgrading and instead get the PS5 or the older (and likely by that point, cheaper) Xbox One X.

I would like an option to prioritize load times. Use that extra ram as cache instead of for higher res textures that will take longer to load. Graphics are fine this gen, load times is what I base my decision on what game to play and how I play it.

I think you're mistaking shadow of war for it's predecessor, shadow of mordor.

Most powerful console... EVAR!

A lot more GPU power and RAM, it makes a difference.

Looking forward to getting Xbox One X, not so much for the graphical improvement but for more stability in graphics and a more future proof console.

Not that I care but DF boasting about a solid 30fps (with drops to low 20's in one area) doesn't sound all that great. No 60 fps mode is an omission. At least then you could see some real benefit on a 1080p tv. DF suspects it's the weak cpu causing the drops, next gen really needs to step it up with the cpu.

Yeah the CPU power this gen is a real disappointment. Especially when you see really low end PC stuff from years ago doubling the framerates you can get from consoles in many cases. 1080p is fine. Sub 30fps isn't.

No mater how much power you throw at this game, it is never going to look good.

I am actually curious about that since I am looking forward to this game. I tought it was a single player game, so I don't understand why it would have Pay 2 Win mechanics. Does it take to long to get new items and stuff without paying? Or is it just a shortcut for lazy people?
