Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prediction: Xbox One X will be an absolute disaster

I don't see the point of doing this midcycle. At least the PS4 Pro offered Virtual Reality, the XBox1X is just a waste of time imo.

If Xbox one x will be a disaster, then how big of a failure is the PS Pro? The x has outsold the pro on Amazon already. If it sells 1 million in the first yr then MS will see it as a success. And that will be easy to accomplish. Most likely 3-4 million first year.

What would you consider a success for X1X?

We already know how much PS4Pro done and that it exceeded Sony expectations. Is for you XboxOneX is a success with 1M sold in the first year than you shall consider PS4Pro a groundbreak success selling between 3-4M on a year.

Using stock audio samples probably wouldn't be as bad if the samples were altered in some way to give it some differentiation.

Physics based Audio is where the sounds actually interact with the games geometry and objects.
Say for instance you were in a padded cell, sounds will probably sound a little more muffled as the material on the padded cells walls would be absorbing some of the sound.

Basically... It's like having sound *in* the Scene rather than just played over the top of a scene.

This is from Valve... The main driver for this is actually thanks to VR, AMD is also taking a similar approach as well, but baking the functionality within their GPU's starting with Polaris.

Seems like one of the benefits is that it would need a lot less sample because they would be able to calculate other audio examples from the interaction of one sample with environment and materials.... seem interesting, sound helps a lot on immersion, even more for VR.

What is your opinion?

I most certainly hope that the Xbox One X will succeed. I am no Xbox fan, I don't plan to buy the X or any other Xbox product, probably ever but I'm thinking that if the X fails, Sony will go "Nintendo" on our consumers' asses and say: No need to push the power in consoles in the future for the PS5 cause people don't want to buy powerful systems anyway, let's just change the hood of the PS4, add a little tweak here and there and bam, let's give that to consumers in a couple years and call it PS5.

PS1 and PS2 were weaker than Nintendo and Microsoft HW. NES and SNES were also weaker than Master System and Genesis. Wii was severely weaker than PS3 and X360.

All those weaker hardware won against the stronger system, yet Sony kept pushing more powerfull hardware all the way up to PS4Pro so why would X1X failing make they stop doing it? The only thing X1X fail would do is reinforce what they learnt from PS3 and X1. You can't go above 400 USD on launch for your baseline system and have mass market success.

So their PS5 independent of X1X will have as much power and evolution as they can fit on a 400 USD HW.

The console market doesn't care about hardware. They care about games. What console do I need to play this game? That's what people will buy. Which console will get the DLC first? That's what people will buy.

The 1% of Xbox fan base that cares about hardware will buy the XBox One X. That's about it.

Couldn't have said it better.

*High five*

You need a promotion.

I'm expecting sales to align pretty damn close with the pro. Ms is going to repeatedly advertise 3rd party games as "best place to play". Publishers will want to show the best looking version of their games. This stuff will help... how much I'm not entirely sure. If it was launching at 399$ like it's competition than I could absolutely see it outselling the pro. But 500$ is 500$

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Wow, no one's editing most of this crap? Just goes to show the amount of bias this site allows. If you replaced Xbox with playstation or sony in this thread - they'd edit your comment and give you a temp ban.

Not all of us buy playstations and there's plenty of reasons as to why we prefer the Xbox brand over sony's offerings.

What needs to be edited? The OP made a prediction based on the sales trends for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If you swapped the words Xbox and PlayStation with what the OP said, he would look ridiculous. I highly doubt that the OP would be banned, instead, people would question why they have claimed that the Xbox has sold more - when the Xbox One clearly has not achieved this. The OP would lose credibility for making such a false claim. So what exactly did you want from this?

Also, could you please elaborate on why the Xbox One is your console of choice? Apparently there are plenty of reasons and I am interested in hearing them.

I don't see it having the desired impact tbh, X1 right now is getting demolished due to it not offering much that is compelling to consumers not because of its specs.

I don't think it will be a 'disaster'. Just like Sony, MS will have a target in mind and if they hit it it will be a success.

I've been thinking the same, but most here seem to think it has to sell millions to be successful.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

1/4 of Xbox one yearly sales would be a success. To say you can't go $500 and be successful is stupid. Xbox one launched at $500 and it was not a disaster.  I t wasn't what it could of been but  not unsuccessful by any means. The PS4 is selling at astronomical amounts. It's the anomaly.  The console is like the iPhone 8/iPhone 8+ and the iPhone x. Not everyone will by it but at least consumers have a choice. They know it's not going to set the world on fire. And to complain about the price while majority of people spend $700 to $900 every year or every other year on phones is just dumb. Price is not to high just people's expectations of what they think it should be. I paid $40k for a new Camaro in 2016. I spent 17k in 1999 on a new Camaro then. Not everything stays at a base line price forever. Inflation is real. It's why NES sales are really impressive for when it came out. $250 was alot of money in 1985. Based on inflation worth $570 today and I believe it did ok. What PS4 is doing is great. But it doesn't make everything else failures. Honda sells millions of civics and accords. Doesn't make Corvette sales a disaster. Different strokes for different folks.

It was until they dropped the price.

They sold around 5 million at $500 before the price drop in June. Thats a disaster? xbox 360 sales must of been a disaster as well to ya.
