Forums - Nintendo Discussion - In terms of Indies, Nintendo's support is best this year

100% incorrect. The amount of indies and good ones at that on PS4 is staggering. This is ultra pro Nintendo place. So most will probably ignore the facts and agree with the OP. Switch does have some decent indies but it'll never be the best system for indies

It's the more suitable for indie games though. The vast majority won't have any technical differences between versions, because they don't have the budget to make a high-budget game. So, I was buying my indie games in Steam for the last 5 years, but if I have to choose the Switch version or the Steam version, it's a no-brainer. Portability is a big deciding factor.

Sorry mate, not even close by a long shot - mobiles are obviously getting more games then any other platform.

Joking aside, PC is, and probably always will be, best platfrom for indies due to its open nature, as well as control method...there are shitload of games for PC then are not possible/simple to port to any console.

PC obviously wins in terms of sheer quantity of games. In terms of overall quality and value though, it's beginning to look like, at least to me, that Switch is going to run away with it as far as best choice when it comes to consoles. You have a strong list of games, many of which are likely to be of quality because of Nintendo's quality control, along with the ability to play them on the go + the added value of some being physical releases vs PC indies.

I don't know about console only space (though I don't see Switch surpassing PS4 in support), since OP is about "platform" - and PC is way ahead of all other platforms (apart from mobile) when it comes to amount of indie games - and good ones at that. Not to mention niche genres that practically don't exist on consoles.

What's the point of getting an indie on Ps4, XBO or even PC if its also avalible on Switch? None, the only good reason would be not having a Switch and that's why indies are selling the most on Switch and this will continue.

Hm...let's check some possible reasons.

Better performance. Better visuals. Better price.

(PC) Modding. KB/M.

To name a few.

Switch is also more fun and convenient to play Indie games on than PS4 because of its control options and portability.

Essentially, the Switch versions are the best ones.

And this is why I dont like when Nintendo does well. Any moderate success is instantly turned into some massive hyperbole like this threads premise

Well some indie games make most their money on Nintendo platforms compared to other platforms.  Gunman Clive developer and a few other developers stated that most their sales and profit come from Nintendo eshop compared to Android, iOS and other platforms.

The sales success, fast rise of the platform, and the portability of the system are not hyperbole, they're fact. You don't like Nintendo to have success because it makes people happy and excited.

You have a very negative attitude, you should fix that.

Most Indie games look and run as good on Switch or even better thanks to the high pixel density of the screen, they don't have to be more expensive and even when they are is usually still worth it since they have a huge plus on Switch, flexibility. Modding is the only possible argument, but then again that is only on PC, it doesn't happen so much with indie games and most people don't use mods anyway.

Not really best thing to compare Nintendo platforms with iOS and Android - something about 500 games per day are launched on those platforms, discoverability is major issue there.

This is fairly old artilce (2015), by it gives better picture of what to expect when it comes to launching indies on some platforms:

But those prices are the same for every single platform, save the odd exception like Rime....

They aren't though. A game that sells for $15 on PS4 or Switch will cost $5 on Steam. Indies on consoles are often stuck at the exact price they launched for and never go on sale.

Haha wow that's incredibly false. I'm buying tons of indie games on X1 and I'm only buying them when they're 50% off or more and trust me that happens very often with tons of indie games.

Minecraft being the only example I can think of that has never been on sale digitally (X1 edition).

For every like 200 indie games, maybe 1 interests me. Good for people who love them though.
