I genuinely feel like Minecraft may breathe some new life into the 3DS eShop in way few other 3DS releases can now. |
First of all: Minecraft is for NEW 3DS, so half the userbase is out for starters. Secondly: Minecraft is also on Switch, and a part of the 3DS-userbase is in the process of migrating, thinking about (and therefore holding out buying something they get better on Switch) or already moved on. And third: everyone and they're mother already played Minecraft. So I think the new 3DS edition might sell decently, but it will fall short of Vitas sales (which are incredible).
It's all a matter of timing though. Last year this would have been different.
