Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA : Gaming will become access-based like Spotify and Netflix

That's the day I stop buying new games. I mean 9.99 a month? That's basically renting the game. By the time you've had it for 6 months, that would be the price of a new game. Any way they can continually squeeze every penny from us.

(Unless of course they meant 9.99 for unlimited access of their library, cause then that would be a good deal, but I still wouldn't go for it, I can't stand digital media. Gotta have the physical item.

I hate the idea.
Delete it fat.

Depends what you call a 'game' I suppose.

It would be terrible unless somehow all developers agree to use the same service to distribute their games (and good luck with that).

Having to buy 2 or 3 consoles per generation is manageable but subscribing to 7-8 developer streaming services would suck.

That's my main concern. And with Disney leaving Netflix, which might encourage other big brands to branch out, we might also be paying for multiple TV/movie streaming services.

This would only work if consoles become obsolete, and if multiple devs get on a fair agreement. I don't see it happening in the next 15 years.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Nooooooooooo.

Oh nooooooooooo.

Nooooooooooooooo.

No sankyuu.

Just, no sankyuuu.

I like owning my games, rather than renting them. It could be useful as a renting service, but this being the main practice? Just, no sankyu.

I feel like that there is a place in the industry for both streaming and traditional options. I certainly still prefer physical ownership of my games despite having bought quite a lot of digital games and even had a subscription to EA Access.

I, for one, welcome our new streaming overlords*.

* - as long as it's not actually streaming

That'd be a disaster, having different services for everything.
